Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My friend recommended having breakfast here before we attended the cinema as she had been here before. Upon arrival I was greeted by a less than enthusiastic person who left me feeling that I was disturbing them. Plus there were crumbs on the floor where we were seated. We ordered breakfast and I chose the omelette when I was told it would take 20-25 minutes for it to be cooked. Once the food arrived it was very good although I would say the omelette is really a frittata. My friend enjoyed the french toast and would have welcomed a coffee top up. It appears to be a popular place and was decorated very well. The china teapot and cup was a nice touch. With a few tweaks it could be an even nicer place.

The rooms were very well appointed. The restaurant and bar areas are really attractive (loving the cherry tree) with a good range of food and drinks. The staff without exception were charming and attentive.

Stayed at this hotel for one night. **Pros:** - The restaurant and bar provided a pleasant atmosphere. **Cons:** - The accommodation did not justify the £185 price tag, which excluded breakfast and had an early 11 am checkout. - Initial issues with key cards necessitated two trips to reception. The third set finally worked, with the receptionist explaining a mix-up due to rooms with the same number. - Room door, installed just two weeks prior, proved challenging to close, being possibly too large. The door was found ajar upon entering. - Despite being a non-smoking room, a persistent, strong smell of smoke lingered throughout our stay. The request to change rooms was declined due to full booking, but drink vouchers were offered as a goodwill gesture. - Non-functional phone in the room. - Inadequate water pressure and water flowing onto the bathroom floor during showers. Additionally, dirty corners in the shower were noted. The overall experience fell short of expectations, and the smoke issue left a lasting smell on our clothes.

I had a great initial experience but things got progressively worse. I booked a deluxe room and the mattress was broken , room wasn’t clean and the shower had black sludge in it ( looked like soap / shampoo product build up ) and thought I’ll just wash it away but when the TV was stuck in one channel and toilet didn’t flush properly and the mattress was broken ( when I lay on it it went down to the frame as of springs had gone .) so I politely asked for a change of room. The polite and lovely receptionist told me she had a full house ( no pun intended ! And I could understand this , but she could only move me to a standard room which I accepted . I requested a manager and none was available ( Jodie seemed to be doing the best she could ) which I genuinely appreciated and thanked her for resolving an issue and when I asked for a refund of the difference from a delux to a standard she said she would get the manager to do this as she didn’t have authority . No problem so I went on with my stay and she moved me into the only other available room . Unfortunately this room also had black sludge in the shower , toilet wasn’t flushing properly and it was cold. It has no window view which is what I paid for but the bed was comfortable and the room itself was cleaner than the last so I wasn’t worrying as I was told my issues were resolved and I was getting a refund as I did not stay in the rom I booked . I cleaned the shower floor myself as I wanted to use the shower and scrapped away the black gunk away from around the edges . The shower was tepid but not warm . I booked a table to eat in the bar and informed the waitress that I have a strawberry allergy and carry an epi pen and medication in case I get a reaction . I joked with the lovely waitress that I simply keep the same glass for drinks to prevent cross contamination and as I wasn’t ordering anything strawberry that the only thing they would need to do is not to put any strawberry garnish on any deserts . Simple right ? Not a big ask. Considering it is life threatening to me and all restaurants are trained in allergy awareness . My panna cotta came out with a strawberry on it. I politely informed the waitress who was apologetic and got rid of it but I’ll be honest this I found totally unacceptable but didn’t make a fuss I just didn’t leave a tip as I always tip my waiting staff as I used to wait tables myself when I was young and know it’s hard work. On the Friday night I could hear the DJ’s music booming through my room and realised why they had left earplugs on the bedside table . It finished at 1am but any longer and I would of complained . I felt cheated as I wish they would earn you of this before you book but if this was the “ only room left “ I had no other option did I ?? On check out they had already taken my bill from my card which I found rude and I’ve never had a hotel ( Clayton , Europa , Maldon, The Link , Jury’s inn , 1852 , Radisson , Marriott ) do this ?? On check out you should be asked if everything was ok and given the total bill to inspect . On inspection of the bill there was a Hennessy whiskey in my bill which wasn’t mine . I don’t ever drink whiskey and I only had 3 cocktails that evening. But again I understand this happens so they took it off but my stay could have been so much better . I asked where my refund was for 2 nights difference in a standard and deluxe room and the receptionist Tiegan explained it came to £11 . I advised this couldn’t be correct as the difference is more and had trusted Jodie when she said the manager would sort this out . I asked for the manager and then got into an argument with her as she told me I wasn’t downgraded so why was I informed I was ???and I was given a smaller room , above the DJ in the bar and with no natural light window . The window looked on to a corridor so has to close my curtains whilst changing so the guests walking by didn’t get a eye full and this middle bit had lots of fag ends around obviously thrown out of the windows into the centre of the hallways that was on 2 sides of the centre of the hotel . After asking tiegan why then she told me the downgrade was only worth £11 she lied in front of her boss and wouldn’t admit to saying that just 2 mins prior. That just finished it with me as I hate liars . I argued with the hotel manager Jennifer as they clearly were trying to fob me off and advised her I have excellent communication skills and active listening skills . The manager told me Jodie had advised me wrong but this is clearly misleading a false representation under trading standards and the consumer goods and services act which I informed them. My stay started off at 100 % and slowly but by bit went down to 25% . I believe I was treated disingenuously and for that and by my calculations I am still owed the difference . I am taking this further I’m afraid as the hotel staff didn’t feel empowered enough to resolve my issue . In fact the lovely manager Lucia called me whilst I was out to apologise on the first day and gave me a free drink voucher as goodwill for having ti move to a lesser room but then the checkout manager did not know anything about my issue so I was told I would get a resolve but in fact this has not happened and I have not been refunded the difference in the rooms . I told the manager she wa full of bull with her excuses and then she persisted to try and make excuses for all the mistakes during my stay . I hate complaining I rarely do it I’m not highly strung but I am not impressed at all . Just to prove I’m not imagining things I’ve uploaded photos . Make your own mind up . It’s a real shame as some of the staff were lovely , food and cocktails were good , my eventual bed was comfy but I feel totally ripped off and gas lighted . 🤨🤯👎

We went for an anniversary meal and ordered the pre theatre menu This was our first time in restaurant. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Atmosphere was just beautiful ,so warm and cosy . Each course got better and better and presentation and quality was comparable to any top class restaurant. Compliments to the chef, such delicious food. I would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant.

8 of us had a meal at and it was very nice . The place is buzzing, and the service was good . Fish and Steaks were on the menu, and both were cooked well . I definitely recommend it, especially for a group night out . It's a busy place so definitely recommend booking.

If you like to sleep at your hotel, Do NOT book. Booked this as a treat was looking forward to a stay in a pretty hotel. Location is great and the bed was comfortable, beyond that I have nothing nice to say, my weekend was ruined due to getting no sleep, I guess they know noise is a problem as they provide earplugs by the bed!! They emailed after I booked and paid to let me know there "nightclub had reopened and there would be a slight increment in noise" the noise was so bad I got almost no sleep. The room is tatty, dirty and hot if you open the window for fresh air you are treated to the sounds and smells of the kitchen extractor fans. The receptionist was rude and too busy talking to her colleagues to ask how my stay was when I checked out. Very sad that this was supposed to be a nice treat that was ruined by hoteliers that clearly don't care.

Hotel is in good location and on nice part of town. Bed was great, room was tired and needed a good clean. Shower head was filthy and clearly no one had cleaned around the safe area. Dinner was ok but let down by lack of cleanliness. There was a noisy drone all night which I think came from heating system. Maybe that’s why ear plugs were provided.

I was looking forward to staying at House Belfast as a couple of months ago it wasn't too bad , this time round was absolutely awful , for a start we were not told on arrival that the card to get into room actually controls the lights as well , so when we came back to room at night , the hallways are so dark when we opened our door we couldn't see anything and had to figure out for ourselves that the card does the lights , there were no dressing gowns so had to ask reception for some , the TV control didn't work and the replacement one they gave didn't work either, there were no flannels to have a wash with and the sink had a big crack in it , our bed were 2 single ones pushed together so kept rolling into the dip in the middle , everything in room was so dark and gloomy, basic tea and coffee supplies , no options of herbal tea or hot chocolate like most hotels , on leaving we didn't even get asked if we had a nice stay or anything , the room needed a good clean as well , very dirty
