I have visited House several times and have never had an experience like last night, I will not be back! The lack of professionalism and incompetent staff led to our poor experience. We sat down at an available table to be told it was reserved (no signage), they sent us to the bar and we stood for 15 minutes without being acknowledged. We then noticed a second bar to the right and a few available seats. The bar staff asked us for our order but it wasn’t to be because we were asked to leave because it was a private party! There was no way any customer would have known this area was dedicated to a private party. I then decided to speak to the manager and explained we had been in the pub for 25 minutes and still had no drink or seat. He said they were busy and there was nothing he could do. His attitude shows lack of experience and no care for his customers. Very disappointing! The staff were inexperienced and obviously don’t enjoy what they are doing. If you want to come home sober from Belfast - Go to House.…
The experience happened as soon as we arrived at reception with the lovely Jenny who couldn't have made us more welcome. She advised us on what to see and do, as a big Man United fan I wanted to see George Best family house in the Greggan and Jenny put us in the right direction. At the end of the night we ended up in the hotel bar and the service was brilliant, any drink we asked for nothing was to much trouble.Me and my wife Diane had a blast.Grestservice Mike and Diane will definitely stay there again.🙂
The gem here is the restaurant! We had wonderful craft cocktails in the bar and outstanding dinner and breakfasts! Kiva, our bar tender, could not have been friendlier. And Peter and Lori took great care of us for meals! The hotel is fine, our room was cozy and glowing, but better to upgrade to larger window for natural light. Stairways in need of major clean. Reception folks always caring and attentive. BUT the restaurant is so beautiful. food fantastic and staff the embodiment of Irish kindness!
such a gorgeous place but just about the worst dining experience I've ever had!! very rude manager who wouldn't let me explain why I needed a better seat due to a disability...really bad service and the food was disgusting. I couldn't eat it. i got the cajun chicken which tasted of raw fish. such a pity. other staff were lovely.
The location is fab and is in a lively area for drinks, coffees and food and a short walk to the city hall area. The staff were friendly and the bar/restaurant is trendy and we enjoyed a few drinks in the eve. The rooms are stylish but quite dark (I understand it is part of the style but personally, I like brighter) and could do with a deep clean in places. The bathroom drain gave a stagnate smell every now and then (room 202). The room came with an iron and ironing board, tea and coffee, hairdryer and a fan. The bed was very comfy and the shower was good. The breakfast was delicious! We had breakfast here both mornings and it was faultless. We really enjoyed our stay, thank you
Great location on great street with shops, resturants etc Comfy bed Small room and dark Friendly helpful staff Good shower Very hot rooms (no air con) but fans given No fridge (but can get stuff in the downstairs bar
The pub is trendy, meals and beers are very good, as well the local personnel. The hotel rooms are terrible, very old and dirty, out of date moquette, need to be fully renewed, in fact the hall, the corridors and the stairs are very bad maintained. Rooms price per value completely unbalanced.
We had a lovely stay here. Friendly reception staff, beautiful bar area and a great outdoor terrace. Our room was pretty and the bed supremely comfortable. My partner had prearranged for cocktails to be delivered to our room as a surprise and my espresso martini was excellent. Lovely walk in shower with a huge shower head and Rituals toiletries were a nice touch. Free, fast WiFi in the rooms and a Nespresso coffee maker made me very happy! The location is great, on,y fifteen minutes walk from the city centre with a buzz student vibe, plenty of restaurants, bars shops and the stunning Botanic Gardens just minutes away.
Currently spending my last night here, and enjoying the restaurant for the second time. The food is fabulous, the rooms are spacious and clean and the staff epitomise Belfast: warm, friendly and full of humour. I would recommend this as a place to stay in an amazing city and definitely hope to return soon.
We booked a table at House for my daughter’s 18th birthday. I made them fully aware of our plans for cocktails and mocktails as we had a younger member in the group. I also said we wouldn’t be eating at the venue. On arrival, Paul asked to see ID for my 18 yr old, which I was pleased to see. However, when he asked for ID for my younger daughter and I explained she was only 13 he seemed annoyed and persisted in telling us that we shouldn’t be there if we weren’t eating. He made her feel very uncomfortable. The two tables we had been told we were having turned out to be 1 table and a hightable with bar stools. Not ideal for 2 members of the group! We asked for 2 more seats as there was plenty of room at the table but they said none were available. The service was incredibly slow and our first waitress wasn’t particularly friendly or helpful. We did have another girl who was lovely and very helpful, albeit the drinks took forever to come and my daughter found a hair in her drink. The cocktails were very nice. We weren’t going to risk asking for a replacement! The toilet facilities were disgusting, the table was sticky and dirty with a dead flower arrangement on it. All in all a very disappointing experience.…
