Tanes Hotel has been welcoming guests under the personal and friendly supervision of the family that own and run it for over 40 years. A local institution, Tanes Hotel is a large Victorian house built in 1888 (retaining many original features), that prides itself on its quality, comfort and welcoming atmosphere. The hotel recently completed a major refurbishment to keep itself fresh and up to date. We are exactly ½ mile (approx. 15 minutes walk) from the City Centre of Cardiff, the Capital City of Wales and close to all local attractions. Guests can relax and enjoy a hearty, freshly cooked breakfast enjoyed in our classic dining room appointed with bone china plates, cups and saucers for that superior service. Accommodation is provided in 19 attractively furnished rooms that have all modern facilities. We look forward to meeting you and aim to provide the highest standards of service and comfort for your stay.

Quite expensive but used vouchers to redeem for reasonable price of 1 night's stay in Cardiff, I was informed that the COVID-19 restrictions prevented the hotel from providing breakfasts but I was sceptical regarding this.

The staff here were really genuine and caring. I lost an item of great personal significance, and the staff were reassuring in saying they would so their best to find it. This put my mind at ease, and a few hours later they phoned to say it had been found! Room was also tidy and clean and happy sleeps all round ;)

What keeps this hotel going surely is its proximity to the city centre. We booked for a rugby game at the Principality, and it was so convenient to drop the car and walk. The hotel is tired though with dark brown wallpaper adorning the bedroom walls (very 1970s), and small things that irritate; the communal toilet upstairs had a loose loo seat, curtains that don’t pull together fully, Ill fitting shower head in communal shower, no plug in bedroom washbasin, squeaky bed mattress- and the traffic noise from outside constant throughout the night, meaning we only had 2 hours sleep all night. Otherwise the rooms were clean and warm on a very cold night, which were the only plus points for what we thought was an over priced hotel.
