Pleasant, clean and modern hotel. Straightforward check in process and room was clean and well appointed. No Bath but shower enclosure. We booked supper in the restaurant and were shown to a table quickly. But then it took a long time before anyone came to take our drinks order. The waitress didn’t seem to understand what we were asking for wine wise (2 Sauvignon blanc and 2 merlots) - she seemed extremely inexperienced (which may have been the case) and it seemed to be just her and a more senior person who was also covering the front desk. Food and drink took a very long time and there was a very long time between the 3rd and 4th meal arriving. Food was good when it arrived. Breakfast was similarly odd given the current Covid situation and the ongoing restrictions in Wales. It was a self service buffet- so multiple people were picking up the utensils which was unnerving. The food ran out repeatedly and there were big delays in it being replenished and only after we found a staff member who would then disappear to the kitchen. The food then came out in dribs and drabs so none of us got a full cooked breakfast. I can only imagine they are struggling with staff so we didn’t make a fuss. I hope things improve as the place has great potential and is handy for the M4.

Had a great stay at this hotel for 3 nights. The reception area was spotlessly clean and the room was lovely and spacious. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating during breakfast - soya milk is available on request if you are vegan or have a dairy intolerance. The hotel is in a good location if you are planning to travel in and around the surrounding areas. It was around a 20 minute drive into Cardiff. The only slight area for improvement would be the gym; there were cardio machines but no weights, and it was looking a little tired. All in all we had a very pleasant stay. Thank you to all of the staff that looked after us.

We booked this hotel last minute, we just needed a place to crash as our journey was longer than expected to Tenby . We first arrived, and it was a quick and smooth check in, however when we went to our room the air con was faulty ( it was loud ) we asked to move and our second room was great except the air con again was not working - ( may I add there is a heat wave currently in the u.k. so this mattered otherwise we wouldn’t have brought it up . ) We went to the front desk and once again they kindly moved us and we’re very apologetic. Our third room was great again, but once again the air con wasn’t working … we felt embarrassed 🙈 by this time but had to say something… we did .-,and they quickly fixed the problem both Naz and the duty manager ! They both went far and beyond to resolve the issue even giving us vouchers for drinks and complimentary breakfast. Thanks again staff at the mercure for resolving our issue.

This was my 4th long-term visit, although my 1st under the new brand. The management and her team are the same as before, only the hotel has been refurbished. The bedrooms are among the biggest in Cardiff and having a fridge was very useful. The all-day menu is small, but very good. The quality and standards within the hotel are excellent. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff; they are most obliging. Covid-19 precautions are in place. Ample free parking. Thank you Dorota etc al!!

A business stay, booked in for 2 nights but 1 was enough, checked out and left a list of complaints with the receptionist, who in fairness was prepared to offer me a discount voucher or similar for a future stay, which I declined as a future stay is highly unlikely. The room was not clean, which in the current climate is inexcusable. Had a large spider in the bed! A window that would not close, so not possible to drown out the traffic noise, a bathroom fan louder than a Noisy motorbike, and if you switched it off the bathroom light was on the same circuit, shower plug hole blocked… Rowdy guests in the car park at midnight…..apart from that, the restaurant food was ok ,the service was slow but attentive. And the promise of contact from the hotel regarding my experiences……still waiting for that. I have used Mercure hotels in France many without issue, but this one is not up to standard.
