We recently stayed here and were very impressed. Lovely homely decor and the staff were all so friendly and welcoming. The bed was very comfortable and the room quiet. Staff went out of their way to be helpful including bringing us coffees out to the comfy fireside sofa in the lobby after having finished breakfast in the restaurant.

Room was ok and clean. Easy access and easy to find. Breakfast was pretty poor and on a large room that was really cold. I was the only person in the room and then some others arrived. The staff seemed to be more concerned with setting up other tables than dealing with the people at breakfast.

I am a member of the Millenium hotels loyalty group and this hotel came up really cheap before Christmas so I decided to give it a go. On the plus side it is not central Cardiff which means it is a quieter place to sleep and the Hypnos mattresses are fab. On the bad side it needs full refurbishment and...

Rooms are quite comfortable, and clean. The pool and gym are of a decent size, and our daughter enjoyed swimming. The bar food is distinctly average and the service lack-lustre: the coffee they served me was lukewarm, spilt everywhere and clearly burnt, and the platter of breads they served was not worth the money (heated salad anyone?). Restaurant food was...

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to complete a review of your recent stay. Whilst I was pleased to read that you found the bedrooms to be clean and comfortable and the leisure club to be satisfactory, I'm disappointed to read that you weren't impressed with our culinary offering. I've already discussed your feedback at length with my...

Four generations of family went for afternoon tea a few days before Christmas. From the initial greeting to the very end it was spot on. The staff were pleasant, friendly and helpful, particularly Laura. The food was plentiful and varied (even for the vegetarians and picky eaters), finger sandwiches, lovely warm scones with jam and cream, barabrith, Welsh cakes, giant profiteroles...

I've been here for conferences and its a great venue for big events. Also been for a coffee and a snack and found it a really nice atmosphere but quite expensive for sandwiches and soft drinks. Service is great, very polite and attentive.

We stayed in the copthorne for 2 nights for our sons wedding. Hotel was lovely Clean. And comfortable. Staff were helpful and friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. We had food on the Friday evening which was delicious and you couldn't fault the breakfast. Would definitely stay here again.

Managed to call the day before and book for afternoon tea for the following afternoon for 7 of us. Read some reviews before so wasn't sure what to expect, especially as the price per head was £13.96. Extremely cheap I think for afternoon tea. We arrived and were seen and greeted swiftly. We had a table laid up with Xmas...

We were initially chuffed that we had been upgraded but upon entering the room we were disappointed and questioned what the standard rooms are like. The room smelt of smoke and was old fashioned. It did however, have everything we needed, offered plenty of room and was clean. The shower was old and left a lot of water on the...

This hotel has a very welcoming reception area and it very tastefully decorated. However, this is where the style ends. The rooms, corridors and restaurant area are so dated. The hotels spin on it is they like to give you a home from home experience, well, this is the case if you live in Downton Abbey, as probably not been...
