Thought the location would have been excellent if I was there for pleasure as right by the shops and restaurants and other tourist attractions. Friendly, efficient reception and my requests had been taken into account. Thought the room looked a little tired and dated - nothing like the modern picture here. The bathroom was modern though. Room generally clean. My only real complaint was that the towel rail didn’t work so I had wet towels the next morning. Ate in the bar area. Food was nice and very fast. Staff were friendly.
We stayed for 2 nights and were very happy with the greeting we received from reception when checking in, the lady was really friendly and efficient. I had requested a high floor room which we got, but such a shame that the window was really dirty, this really spoilt the view and made the request pointless. The room is in need of some renovation as it was a bit aged. There is scaffolding outside the hotel, let’s hope some work will also be carried out on the rooms. All in all a pleasant stay and the hotel is in a good location.
Everything was lovely - we even had a lovely plate of anniversary goodies (cake/chocs etc) which was a lovely thought and very in expected - the whole experience was delightful and we would definitely return
The hotel itself is fine, rooms clean, beds comfortable, breakfast excellent. It's located well for the city centre and Motorpoint Arena.
So the bad points, and really there is only only, but it spoiled my stay after a 5 hour drive to get there. When I booked it said parking was available on a first come first served basis. That is not true. I arrived at 1pm to find that the 6 or 7 spaces available had all been pre-booked. So no space available for me despite arriving early. The car park itself is very very small and very tight. Trying to manoeuvre to get back out was difficult. After some gruff words with reception (who clearly were used to people arriving angry trying to park their car) I was advised to park in the John Lewis car Park opposite. It was a Saturday afternoon, that was full too. The queue for this car park stretched round the block, and you couldn't join the queue without blocking a bus lane. So I drove round the centre to a nearby NCP open air car park. Not what I really wanted for my high end car. So, if you intend to park here, phone up and pre-book. Or get the train. 4 stars for the Hotel, zero for the parking. 3 is a generous average given how annoyed I was.
