Travellers' Choice
The Coal Exchange Hotel is a historic, luxury hotel situated 450 yards from Cardiff Bay. The Grade II* listed heritage building stands tall today as an integral piece of Cardiff’s history. Renowned for helping to shape the city into the cosmopolitan Welsh capital, the building is treasured by locals and a must-see for those visiting the city. While its walls were once filled with the ambition and passion from local trade negotiators, its role as a shipping industry hub was left in the past, and the building was left to deteriorate. Bringing a breath of fresh air to Cardiff Bay and assigning the building a lasting role in the city, the Coal Exchange was born, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the results. Rooms at the Coal Exchange are stylish and contemporary with a touch of elegance and tradition. Our spacious rooms feature everything from large flat-screen TVs to whirlpool baths, scenic views and free WiFi.

Loved this hotel! Well worth a stay here! A few minutes walk from Cardiff Bay. FOOD - only had breakfast - was excellent. The restaurant is lovely - really different. ROOM - was fab! Really different & a bit whacky. Spa bath was good fun. Needed a bigger bin (was overflowing by the time we left), & more hooks in the bathroom for towels etc - they ended up hanging to dry on chairs, door handles etc. STAFF - were all wonderful - they clearly have invested emotionally in the place & want to see it succeed. SUMMARY - this hotel is still being 'done up'! Its only part of the building thats open - but its still great! I cant wait to go back & see it all finished. The history of the building is amazing - make sure you see the big hall in the centre of the building. The only moan is parking!!!!!! Its virtually non existant - but I believe they're going to do something about this as part of the renovations!? Finding it in the first place was also a nightmare!!!! Definitely stay again!

Me and my husband booked one night (a Friday) for our 15 year anniversary as our holiday to Greece had been cancelled. An amazing hotel, looks the part, room (standard double) was in excellent condition, a double whirlpool bath, stunning bathroom and all facilities available. Air conditioning was greatly welcomed as it was a hot day. On arrival, staff were very attentive and it continued that way throughout our stay. We were met with an alcoholic drink and appetiser while checking in. Check in smooth, a short queue where staff happily chatted to us. No issues at all in check in and out. We visited the on site restaurant in the evening, the hotel had contacted us during the week to take a reservation as our package included a 3 course set meal and breakfast. The meal was stunning, made better by the live singer present. The set menu consisted of alot of choice and some items required a supplement e.g I had the cod as my main which was a £4 supplement. Most sides also a supplement. Yet it was well worth the money, the food was amazing. The mini cheese board selection for desert is highly recommended. We live local so I will happily return, and soon!

Lovely date mate stay last night Friday 23rd. Afternoon tea and cocktails were wonderful. Really lovely room, luckily with a Jacuzzi bath which was full of cold water due to the heat ! Very welcoming staff. Superb breakfast this morning. Great value package. Prosecco in room, face masks and afternoon tea included. Only improvement would have been air conditioning.
