Stayed three nights in mid May with 4 other 61 year old school friends, on our annual walking weekend and had booked three twin rooms. Excellent location quit central to town with canal just around the corner. John and Christine superb hosts and could not do enough for you. There is a drying room and the biggest bonus a cosy...

If you're looking for somewhere with a personal touch, this is it. The hosts love their work and are fully invested in the enjoyment of their guests. There is a lovely communal area for a relaxing drink and their breakfast is something special. I highly recommend this guest house.

When we got to Brecon we were two thirds of the way through a 200 mile bike ride to the West Wales coast. We had chosen Ty Helyg because it was right on our route and for no other reason. But we were very pleased we did. Christine and John, who have run Ty Helyg for almost a year, went...

We were 6 adults doing the Lon Las Cymru bike route from Holyhead to Cardiff and this was our last stop before arriving in Cardiff. A really lovely B and B in the centre of the town run by a couple who are extremely welcoming, even though we had dirty bikes that needed storing. Nothing was too much trouble. The...

I have been visiting this establishment for many years. Once, the Lansdowne Hotel, it is now known by its Welsh friendly title of Ty Helyg and remains one of the best bargains in the shadow of the Brecon Beacons. Under the new management of Christine and John, the guest house continues as a warm, friendly haven whether visiting for walking...

Our family of four had two rooms here for a night on an Easter trip around Wales. Christine and John were the perfect hosts and, as with any good stay, our only regret was that it was just for one night. The rooms were large and bright; the food was tasty (amazing yogurt and a great fresh fruit salad, and...
