I had a great time here with my two sons as YHA always means a cheap getaway but it wasn’t up to the standards I’m used to. No games or TV room which wouldn’t have mattered so much if the WiFi had worked. Rooms felt unloved and they were noisy though the beds were comfy and the shower was good. Not sure id come back to this one unless it has a bit of an update.

Best to visit during rain season. After a heavy rainfall this is an awesome sight.. Such power pouring over rocks. The hotel faces directly on to the falls. Plenty of parking. Good food friendly staff

The hostel is in a 70s temporary block, and has probably only had basic repairs done since then. The rooms are small, dark, damp, stale smelling, with tired saggy mattresses and grubby looking linens on the beds. The kitchen looked like a battered student kitchen that had no care or maintenance, it too smelled and was dark. It’s 2 miles from Betws-y-coed too, so don’t book thinking you’ll be in town. Additionally it is EXPENSIVE, other YHAs in the area were half the price, and some looking after we found how grim it was showed hotels (even the one next door!!) for the same price or less. Save yourself, go elsewhere or camp.

Unfortunately the overwhelming impression you get in this place is "damp". It smells of damp, the air feels damp [like somebody just had a bath] and you can see signs of damp without looking too hard. The extractor fan in our bathroom didn't do anything. Water trickles down the wall in the kitchen when it rains heavily. Somebody came around and propped open all the doors after a complaint. Bed linen was clean but I suspect the mattress protectors don't get washed very often, mine had hairs and other dirt on it. Shower was a bit tepid. The drying room was out of order. The kitchen facilities are pretty good with two of everything. The fridge is a decent size and looked new although the threat about removing unlabelled food is clearly an empty one. The main door is really narrow, on a heavy spring and the code lock is really finicky so getting in and out is unneccessarily difficult [impossible in a wheelchair, saw another guest using the fire exit]. PIN for the fire alarm panel and instructions for resetting it are on a poster in the kitchen, this doesn't strike me as "best practise". The "adventure playground" consists of two swings and a slide [this is merely amusing rather than any kind of downside].

Couldn't fault the lady on reception nor my unexpected upgrade to a private room. However this is something called an enterprise hostel and whatever else that means it wasn't up to what I'd expect from a regular YHA hostel. The main YHA facilities including some rooms are in a temporary building on the side of the main hotel/pub. The code lock to get in was hanging loose meaning it took a while to actually get in. The kitchen was a mess (though I accept that might have been the other residents). The building is perhaps best described as near the end of it's life, decoration was wanting. Boiling a kettle in the kitchen was enough to disturb folk in their rooms (sorry if that was you), usually kitchen facilities are well away from where people sleep. A lovely French couple commented that they were making alternative arrangements for what would otherwise have been a second night. My room was interesting, a wooden bunk bed which moved with every toss and turn - but was otherwise adequate.
