Three of us stayed in a deluxe room overlooking the river. Room was spacious and very comfortable. Bed was huge and we slept well. Breakfast was good, although I feel the restaurant itself needed updating as it was a little tired and cramped. As the weather was so wet, we went to the leisure complex in the sister hotel and...

Our room overlooked the main street and the park. The winding hallways have old, wooden floors, and the room shook when someone walked past. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were too big. The bathroom was modern. Two windows offered light and cool air at night. Breakfast at the bar / restaurant next door was continental with additional items...

We stayed for five nights at this lovely hotel based in the quaint village of Betws y Coed. Our room overlooked the river not 50 yards away, and we were also close to a large playing field which too was picturesque. The staff were very accommodating, the breakfasts delicious, and the Stables pub (part of the hotel) was packed every...

Visited for my husbands 65th birthday, room had a great view but looked tired, bathroom adequate, main restaurant not open the nights we stayed, brasserie ok but anyone could come in off the street, no lounge for residents, menu not impressive, staff were lovely, the whole place needs updating, you go up what looks like staff stairs to accommodation, but...

Just popped in for lunch. Very pleasant surroundings and tasty food. Great staff too. Lots of attentive service. Lunch menu was quite sufficient and clearly has lots of fresh tasty produce on offer. Didn't stay in hotel so can't comment on this.

Had dinner here while staying at a different hotel in town, we were a walk in and luckily they had space for us. Service was prompt and efficient- the guy serving us was very nice but I think he was chewing gum.. It annoyed me a bit but he made up for it with his attentive service! Food was good...

We organised a walking holiday with the Royal Oak as our base.12 people in total, the hotel accommodation was very good, staff friendly, rooms comfortable and well furnished, beds very cosy and food excellent, Rooms at the front were a little noisy from passing traffic, could have done with double glazing Would recommend this hotel as a good base for ramblers, the surrounding countryside was spectacular.

We booked 2 nights here, in a deluxe room, breakfast included. The room was huge, clean & the bed was perfect after a day in the rain, climbing Snowdon. Staff were excellent, from reception to dining & bar staff; the night porter even gave us breakfast & packed lunches at 5:30am. We dined in the restaurant on the first night...

Visited again on Sunday 10th. What a restaurant ! The pan fried chicken in mushroom and white wine sauce was sensational. Cooked to perfection , as was the broccoli. The latter was a pleasant surprise : not the quarter cooked veg that most establishments serve nowadays , but ideal texture for the elderly. Pleasant obliging staff and very reasonably priced...

We were staying in Betws y Coed and wanted somewhere to meet with family for a get together over coffee. Decided on the lounge at the Roayl Oak rahter than the stables. We had a large table for 7 of us. The sandwiches and paninis were good. Also the tea and americano. If anything the cafetiere was far too strong...
