Check in was quick and easy, following COVID protocols, had to ask how to get to room the information was not offered. We booked a superior lodge at the rear of the main building. We had a nice patio area overlooking the river, didn't use it as we visited in November but it would be lovely to sit outside in the warmer weather, tea/coffee making facilities that were replenished daily and a settee to relax on. The bed was OK not the most comfortable I have slept on, nothing that a mattress topper wouldn't sort. The room had been sanitised and sealed and that was the last time house keeping entered the room until we left (due to COVID restrictions) if we wanted the bins empty we just left the bag outside and they would leave a new one. Evening meal in the bar, unfortunately service was abysmal, the food is good. We were sat at a table in front of the bar with empty glasses for 30 minutes, we gave up and went elsewhere. They lost out on another 2-3 drinks each. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried again the next day but it was just as bad so, we had food elsewhere for the remainder of our stay. If the hotel was up to full capacity I dread to think how they would cope. Breakfast service was no better but again the food was good. We did not use the leisure facilities so cannot comment. The hotel is ideally situated for exploring Snowdonia and North Wales. Would I stay here again? Yes Would I recommend to a friend? Yes

I have some negative feedback but I’ll come to that after the positive. So on arrival the reception staff were super helpful. The hotel, bar and restaurant are absolutely gorgeous. We had our evening meal there and it was soooo good! The waiting staff were friendly and warm without being intrusive or over bearing. We stayed on the Travelzoo deal - Superior lodge for one night £89. The room was pleasant, large bed, lovely sofa seating area with large TV, fab outdoor seating, however on entering the room the smell of damp/fussiness was very apparent. Although the room was clean, the carpet needs attention, it seemed well overdue a clean. Also a weird TCP smell after flushing the toilet, the bed wasn’t the best (should take a leaf from premier inn) I can only hope this is because of the recent lockdown and lack of guests. A few improvements to the superior room would make my rating to a five and the room superior! Would I stay again??? Absolutely, I just wouldn’t pay the regular price, which is a shame. HOWEVER overall fab place fab people fab food, thank you.

Went to stay just before lock down and so glad that we did. We had booked another hotel via Groupon but on seeing it was so disappointed we decided to treat ourselves. Stayed for the weekend and had a great time. The attached leisure club had a lovely pool. We didn’t eat at the hotel apart from the breakfast which was lovely. We didn’t stay in the main hotel but in one of private chalet at the rear of the hotel which made the stay more romantic having its own terrace. Great short break
