We have enjoyed our stay here in the turret suite which was spacious and comfy with wonderful views...first room offered was in need of some upgrading. Gentlemen on reception we found to be friendly and helpful, good choice of breakfast and attentive staff. We would also like to thank the gentleman with the cap for taking both of our cases...

No heating. No hot water. No wifi in rooms. Granted these things happen, however, we should have been notified that water/heating had been off for 2 days. Had a drink in the bar, gin and tonic, no ice and no lemon. Staff looked disheveled. Staff using mobile phone on arrival and through check in. No welcome. This was a terrible...

I would like to assure all of our future and potential guests that our hot water problem was resolved and that there is no central heating issue. I would also like to clarify that we have free WIFI in public areas of the hotel and in most of our bedrooms .

Stayed for 2 nights mid March for a family event. Was somewhat worried after reading earlier reviews, but we felt it was better than some of the reviews led us to believe. Had a family room, very spacious with a beautiful view. Coffee/tea making available in room with plenty of milk, biscuits. Bed a bit lumpy, and the windows rattled...

Honest review, the hotel is in need of a bit of TLC and I would ordinarily give it a 3* rating but for the service of the staff who were excellent and very friendly. Our room was fabulous with an amazing view of the river Dee and the bed was really comfy. Breakfast was adequate. Cheap sausage and no black...

We stayed here on Valentine's Night. Owner and son greeted us in reception. We had booked the Turret Suite, beautiful rooms with great views over the river and bridge. Nothing was too much for the staff. This hotel has a wonderful charm from a better age but is also up to date without being spoilt. Rooms were lovely and warm....

I stayed for one night at The Royal Hotel as I'm a volunteer on the Llangollen Railway and was on the railway for two consecutive days. I had read some previous reviews which seemed to be mixed however from my perspective I found the hotel very comfortable and clean which is what I am happy to accept and at a...

This hotel is an an excellent central location, overlooking the river. There is a lovely lounge area with a bar overlooking the river and a verandah for warmer days. The restaurant is light and airy and also overlooks the river. Away from those two areas there is a feeling that the hotel was probably in its heyday in the 60's....

We stayed here for a weekend in early March. We had a large family room overlooking the river. The room was comfortable, it was warm and the beds were ok. We all slept well but they were a bit lumpy. The shower wasn't brilliant but functional. The hotel is old and dated but that's what I expected. You can hear...

A pleasant stay was had here with friendly staff and clean rooms. In need of updating but situated in a great location by the river which flows right under your window. Didn't eat here so can't comment on this aspect of the stay.
