We had 1 nights stay here & while the hotel was clean & cosy, the room we stayed in was dated, especially the bathroom which had a very poor shower & decor so desperately in need of refurbishment. Breakfast was nice & served quickly, staff very friendly & hardworking, but some not using face coverings correctly.
My review was removed from booking.com. we only stayed one night, beds were clean and comfortable. The room was very cramped with dated furniture, bathroom dull and in need of updating and tiles a thorough clean, I know this is an old hotel, but for £99 per night, would expect a bit more. Breakfast, under staffed, waited 20 mins for coffee, ended up only ordering toast after gearing complaints about the wait and cold food. Disappointed to see staff in dining area not wearing face coverings as well as the staff cleaning and changing of rooms. I don't usually leave a review, but I felt I needed to share my views.
Not my first visit to chirk but never stayed in the Hand before and after reading a few reviews was a little worried but what a load of rubbish i read ...As soon as we walked in... lovely smiles and service ..the room was lovely ..yes dated furniture but that helped with the age of the hotel feel. It was spotless and bright and just the right size for the 4 of us ...The toliet i agree was loud when flushed but so what ?? Not affected our stay in the least ...breakfast was lovely ...very polite lad serving us and the food matched up to what we had been told LOVELY ....all in all this place is amazing value ive been to lots of places over the years with my family and friends and ive learnt you just cant please everyone and some people will pick at anything just for a good ole moan ....for the price its well worth every penny we will be going back ...…
The hotel was comfortable and pleasant and the staff very attentive. A special mention to Jason and Jez who both made my stay a more pleasant experience and I would like to emphasise how hard they both worked, nothing seemed to be to much trouble to them, they carried out their relative duties diligently and always with a smile. The only criticism I would offer is the sparsity of parking spaces in the hotel grounds.
Just back from a three night break at this hotel with my son and mum. We had a twin room and she had a single. The rooms were clean and had everything you needed ( tea making facilities, hair dryer etc). I had asked for rooms with good WiFi and they put us next to the hub so we had no problems. My son got to watch BT sport on his iPad no problems, although his team lost on penalties! The breakfasts were great and we used the residents room in the evening when it got too loud in the bar area at night. Lovely beer garden by the river. Would definitely recommend this hotel and look forward to coming back soon. Thanks to all the staff.
