Lots of home comforts, lovely welcome from owner/staff. Homely and welcoming. Great value for money. Would recommend it for easy access to town centre. Some road noise but to be expected on the main road.

Stayed at at the Black Lion Guest House for our annual Mountain Bike trip away, fantastic welcome nothing to much trouble, rooms all clean and tidy, ours slept 3 which meant I was on the sofa bed but was all ok. No parking onsite but plenty of off-street parking available. Breakfast was superb probably one of the best Ive had,... More

You won`t get a friendlier welcome anywhere else! All the comforts of home and the owners can`t do enough for you. Rooms are spotlessly clean and if you like your food, the breakfast is to die for! never seen such an array of Fruit, Cereal, Juice, Tea & Coffee and the full English cooked breakfast is a real "belly buster"!!... Stayed here last minute on my own. The chap I dealt with was great and really friendly. I was in room 2, I think, which had a fantastic shower in a very large bathroom. Bed was very comfy and room was quiet. Breakfast was incredible and could not ask for more. I've seen a couple of negative comments on here... More

We stayed here during the week of the National Eisteddfod, and the owners were very accommodating and attentive to detail. The breakfast was truly exceptional, with a great choice of fresh fruit and a full Welsh fry-up. Our room was not ensuite, but its other facilities were excellent. The separate bathroom and shower room were well equipped. Also, much information... More

Booked 2 rooms at the Black Lion in August 2015 for the 3rd to 6th August 2016 (12 months in advance, as I knew that accomodation during the Eisteddfod week would be scarce) for 4 guests at a rate of £55 per person per night, and gave my credit card number to secure the booking. On the 7th of May... More

A double bedroom with very old bed and NO windows (except a skylight), no fresh soap in the bathroom (which had a problem shower). cupboard full of old clothes. The owner was pleasant, and provided an excellent breakfast, but at £100/night (plus 2% if paying by card) this was the worst-value B & B we have ever had!

A gem of a place. Was very well looked after. Very friendly, close to town, the breakfast was superb, parking around the side. Will definitely be coming back. Lovely and clean. Not ensure but can't fault the place.

My husband and I wandered into Abergavenny on a Sunday afternoon to spend a few days hiking. We had no idea that it was the weekend of the Food Festival. After a bit of gridlock in town we drove to the edge of town and walked down the Hereford Rd to find a place to stay. We knocked on the... More

This is a fantastic, family run B&B with excellent rooms in a beautiful location. The owners are very friendly and very relaxed, and the breakfast service in the morning is great! (breakfast is very nice too). I was a student staying there whilst working in the local hospital and this was by far the best accommodation I have stayed in... More

“All rooms are wonderful, especially great is the Suite they got there, because it is quite big and nicely made. We also got for one night the chance knowing another room which is very nice because of the wonderful bathroom and bathtube, but this is more convenient to friends or family, not so much convenient for couples.”
