We visited to celebrate my husband's 59th birthday. The restaurant was extremely busy and, unfortunately, very noisy. The food and the service more than compensated for that. My husband and son had the rack of ribs and rump steak which was outstanding. I had the slow cooker beef which was also amazing. Well done Chapter House, no wonder you were...

Full of character, and a stone's throw from the cathedral? Yup, expected that. But these advantages are often combined with eccentric plumbing, mediocre food and indifferent service. NOT HERE! Refurbished bathroom with immediate hot water and a cosy twin room. I was travelling with a visiting choir singing services at the cathedral. 30 of us booked dinner and 32 turned...

Fabulous character hotel, very friendly staff. Excellent restaurant which we used both nights of our stay. Breakfast was lovely but limited, we needed to ask for fresh fruit. Great access to the cathedral, the town itself & Stonehenge. Free parking is not available but we knew this before our stay however 24hr parking at a nearby (2 min walk) public...

We enjoyed our stay at the Chapter House, finding the staff very welcoming and helpful. The food was good and the surroundings historically interesting. Our room was great, with dark wood panelling and low lighting, giving the feeling of going 'back in time'. The cathedral was right opposite the Chapter House, so iwe were in a good central position for...

Stayed here last year and loved it so we returned this year and loved it as much. We were given the same room (14) which we love but would like to have a nosey in the others to see if they are as nice. The en suite has a large roll top bath that you can both soak in with...

My daughter treated us to a birthday meal at this restaurant and what a great choice it was. Excellent service and an unusual choice of South African dishes I had not tried before. Will definitely be going back.

I met here with an old friend and her family as she was going to be staying there that night, it was a beautiful old quaint pub very nicely decorated. She showed me her room up the really old stair case, even though I didn't stay here I could tell how nice it was going to be for her,

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Situated in the heart of historic Salisbury, The Chapter House comprises a cosy steakhouse restaurant, friendly pub and 17 comfortable letting rooms. It lies within easy reach of some of Southern England's most important landmarks. The stone for the Salisbury Cathedral, a mere five minute walk away, was cut in what is now the restaurant, making the hotel's initial construction almost 800 years old. Some of the original stone and ironwork is still left exposed inside the property. The 17 boutique en-suite rooms are all unique and quirky, some with original panelling and fireplaces and all with fluffy goose down duvets, Egyptian cotton linen, luxurious H2K toiletries and flatscreen TVs. The Chapter House boasts a bustling restaurant and grillhouse where flame grilled steaks, a la carte dining and hearty pub food are served in an ambient environment. The perfect base when visiting Wiltshire's historic sites, The Chapter House is also an ideal stop over en route to the coast or as a home-from-home option when on a business trip. ... more   less
