Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great customer service and cosy bed . We love the architecture of this 600 year old building. Very good value for money. We also enjoyed the restaurant and again great service and good food. The only thing I would advise is a little more variety for vegans for breakfast but other than that all good. Will stay again.

Sitting on the edge of town, just a 10-minute stroll to the market square, we found this to be a peaceful and handy accommodation. The bathroom was good and the bed comfortable. It was well situated for pedestrian exploration in Salsbury and very handy for exploring the surrounding historical areas by car. The staff were friendly and helpful. The Hotel was a little run down and although the restaurant was convenient, it was rather ho-hum. Still, at this price, Recommended.

The hotel has a list of ongoing problems, the rooms are dated and moldy including mouldy showers (see pictures) the additional costs for parking and the spa wasn't mentioned before booking and the hot tub is out of order. The food in the restaurant is limited and overpriced. Averaging about 22 pounds for a meal per person which isn't anything special. The staff are nice but way too many problems for a 4 star hotel definitely a 3 star at best.

Dear Cheetham77, thank you for staying at the hotel and I am sorry that you have not enjoyed your time here with us. All additional charges can be found on our website and unfortunately, the latest storm has caused us some issues with the outdoor hot tub. We are currently in the process to fully refurbish the entire hotel and it will look spectacular when all is finished in May. Best regards Christian

The hotel location is good and staff are very friendly. The spa was closed. Z bed was small and uncomfortable but main bed ok. Bathroom was very nice. Executive Room was satisfactory but not magnificent. Everywhere seemed clean. Bar was small, not busy and understaffed.

A great traditional hotel with very friendly staff in a fantastic location. The rooms are a good size and the bed was very comfortable. You do pay to park, but it was not expensive and would be cheaper than a city centre car park I would highly recommend staying here.

Reservation number 46075., booked via Hotels.com on 4 September 2023, for overnight stay on 12 December 2023. The hotel only acknowledged our reservation on 5 December 2023 at 1500 by email via Hotels.com. On Saturday 9 December an email from hotel via Hotels. com advised that parking only available on a first come first served basis at a cost of £9 per night. The reason for our B&B booking was so that we could attend an evening function in the Salisbury area, and return home next day. I could get no reply by telephone from the hotel on Sunday 10 December, and this morning on the fifth attempt, after waiting more than four minutes - previous attempts lasting three minutes were unsuccessful. The kind and nice young lady receptionist (Ms Katland) confirmed that, indeed parking if we leave the hotel cannot be guaranteed to be available on our late night return (well, 2200 hrs), and that the staff have tried putting out bollards but have found that other guests just move them. Regrettably, there is nothing they can do about that. I explained that, at 86 years old, there is no way we could take the risk of trying to find an alternative parking place if indeed the hotel car park was full on our return to the hotel. I had no option but to cancel our reservation, and have lost at least the value of our Voucher, and will probably also now be charged the balance due. So be it, but other travelers in similar circumstances beware - to have the parking information only possibly advised on 5 December, and confirmed on 9 December, just at best seven days notice for a booking made three months earlier, is not really acceptable!

Dear gwenday, thank you for your email and I am sorry to learn that you felt you had to cancel your booking here with us. Our on-site parking can be a little tricky and indeed we operate an first come first served basis. All information regarding parking and cost is available on our website, with alternative parking is located approximately 3 minutes walk away. With best regards Christian

We had our wedding reception here; stayed for 2 nights, before and after the big day. The staff were incredible, we were lucky to be looked after by a young man named Jordan who went above and beyond to help us set up and look after our party all evening. Only let down was the room, we stayed in the Clerendon Swuite, which we hoped would be the perfect wedding stay-we were sorely disappointed. The bathroom had a terrible moldy smell which triggered my asthma- it was so bad I didn't sleep the night before my wedding and my makeup artist had to go extra lengths to cover my sleepy eyes, which meant we could only use about 50% of our photos from our photographer. The bed itself was so uncomfortable, it felt like sleeping on rocks and squeaked with every slight movement-needles to say we did not have a romantic wedding night. Our family stayed in the executive suites which were simple and comfortable. The food was incredible and we look forward to seeing what changes the refurbishment brings. It's a beautiful place that just needs a little love.

We have just spent two nights at this hotel and found the room to be very comfortable and clean. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly The breakfast was good value and had enough choice. Situated near enough to the centre, which gave us the opportunity to have a walk around. Overall a good experience. There is a bar which we went to one evening, but I did inform the receptionist on the day we left, that we thought the drinks were overpriced. Other than that, I would recommend.

This is a relatively new hotel in an evocative old manor house within easy walking distance of the high street and Salsbury Cathedral. The room was basic and the rooms around us were being remodled but overall we had a very nice stay. We didn't use the spa for which the hotel is well known but we had dinner in the restaurant and it was spectacular. The young staff was engaging and especially helpful.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Milford hotel, upon arrival we were greeted by a happy and upbeat employee (I believe her name was Rhiannon) she was nothing but polite and helpful and a real credit to the hotel! The room was really lovely and had everything we needed including a coffee machine which was lovely added bonus :) Booked a table in the restaurant and it didn’t disappoint, we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals and desserts! Didn’t get to try the spa as we were only there for one night but would love to go back again. Big thanks again to Rhiannon! I also loved the country themed playlist at dinner! :)
