What can I say that hasn’t already been written? A warm welcome, a lovely double ensuite bedroom tastefully decorated and a superb breakfast are all part of the experience here. Yes, the cakes are mouth-watering – homemade chocolate brownies and a pot of tea on arrival and muffins and croissants are also included with breakfast. The separate sitting room is... More

We had a one night stay here while our friends camped nearby. We felt super smug when we arrived and saw our comfortable looking room and were offered a glass of wine or a beer while they were in a damp field putting their tents up in the rain! We stayed in the smaller double room, but there was still... More

A great B&B experience - everything that is best about staying in a guest house applies here. A warm welcome, charming house, lovely family, sumptuous breakfast, nice room with en suite, and very comfortable. Can't recommend Sarah's hospitality highly enough - she goes the extra mile to make you welcome and a fount of information about where to visit.

We were delighted with our one night stay. Welcomed on arrival with a complimentary home made cake and an offer of drinks (including a glass of wine!). Décor throughout was elegant and much attention to detail had been thought through. Breakfast was superb! The choice was original and all mouthwatering!! Delicious freshly baked muffins timed for when we chose to... More

One of the best b&b's we have ever stayed at. Gorgeous rooms. Fantastic welcome (we received English warm scones with jam, cream and tea - utterly Devine!!). Breakfast was amazing and the bathroom is fabulous, both clean and luxurious. Would highly recommend Merivale House. Be warned though it is a cab ride to the city centre but don't let this... More

Comfy rooms, lovely house and charming host. Fresh cooked muffins when we arrived were the best, and the breakfast was awesome. A bit of a walk into town but you can always drive, we loved it and will be back.

Selected this because it was near enough to the city to walk (1.5 miles) or bus but not city centre - and was short walk from my best friend, who we were visiting at the same time. Everything I'd expect from an establishment with this ETB grading but personal touches - breakfast in a conservatory on one big table with... More

Wonderful little B&B; great food, hostess, decor, free parking, beautiful gardens, quaint church across the fence. A great central base if you have a car to visit Winchester, Bath, Stonehenge, Bristol, Cotswalds, Southhampton - all less than an hour away. This house is in the suburbs, a pub 3 blocks away but that's it; very quiet. If you don't have... More

I travel alot on business and always try not to stay at motels or cold clinical chain hotels. I had reason to visit Salisbury and researched bed and breakfast places on trip advisor and found this gem. Merivale House has many good write ups but words alone cannot do justice here. The welcome from Sarah's smile alone would melt the... More

Needing a room for one night, and with all my regular options filled due to a conference, we chanced upon Merivale. From now it will be my first option. I haven't taken the 'B&B' route before, and I normally end up in a chain hotel or similar, where I'll often eat in my room to detach from the corporate world.... More

“The room at the rear of the house is the larger of the two and has a large bath. Its mattress and pillows are great! The only shortcoming is the absence of any shower curtain or other splash guard around the tub.”
