Just back from a short break with friends – a chance to meet up and explore the area. We were greeted by Lizzie on arrival and served tea, coffee and homemade cakes in the downstairs lounge. The B&B is part of the house but is in a light, bright modern extension. It has a separate entrance, hallway and stairs, and a large lounge/conservatory for guests, so you don’t feel you are intruding on the owners’ personal space. Fresh milk and water is kept cold in a mini fridge located in the hallway, so no humming noise in the bedrooms. The en-suite bedrooms were spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Castle View room and the conservatory have a superb view across the Arun Valley to the Castle and Cathedral opposite. The location of Nurses Cottage is great but there isn’t a pub within staggering distance. The George at Burpham is the nearest (a 5 minute drive) and there is a good selection of eateries within a 10-20 minute drive. Each evening we made full use of the lounge, catching up with our friends over a glass of wine in front of the cosy log burner, which Lizzie lit most nights when it became chilly. Delicious breakfasts were pre-ordered the evening before, from a good selection of tasty options including eggs from their free range chickens. Lizzie and Paul were perfect hosts and we certainly intend to return! …
Revisiting places we'd previously been to pre-covid isn't always great - for obvious reasons, owners who have lost a year or more of revenue are pulling back - a small cut to quality here, a reduction in the offer there. There's been no such trimming of the experience at Nurse's Cottage, though, and it was just as excellent as on our pre-2020 visits. The location is stunning - I'm not sure there are many places you can eat breakfast looking out on a cathedral AND a castle; the rooms wonderfully comfortable; a welcoming fire took the edge off a sharp early Spring night and, as ever, Lizzie was everything you could hope for in a host. I genuinely cannot recommend this place enough.
Exceptionally comfortable b and b with a welcoming and helpful hostess. Spotless spacious room super breakfasts. Quiet location on the edge of Arundel which is a lovely historic town Really enjoyed our short stay.
Everything about this Bed & Breakfast was perfect. We were given a warm welcome with tea and cakes on arrival. The Castle view room was spacious with a super king size bed, and gave us an excellent view of the Castle and surrounding countryside. Downstairs is a living area with comfortable sofas and TV to relax in. Breakfast continued the theme of excellence, plenty of choice and all to a very high standard. Arundel itself is a great location for a weekend or longer break, with plenty to see and do. Lizzie and Paul were great hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed our time here.
We are presently staying and enjoying all that Nurses Cottage has to offer. Coffee and cakes on arrival sitting in the warm sunshine in the garden was the perfect start to our time here. We are in the beautiful Castle View Room equipped with everything you need plus a super king sized bed. As the weather had turned chilly overnight when we came down for breakfast the next morning we were greeted with not only warmth from our host Lizzie but the warmth and sight of the log burner. Breakfast was amazing and so beautifully set out on the table with lovely views to enjoy at the same time. When we returned from our ventures and meal out in the evening the blinds were drawn in the lounge and again the logs were burning ready for us to sink down on the settees with a glass of wine to complete the day. Lizzie was a wonderful host and we look forward very much to a return visit in 2022.…
