The building is impressive but you go to a reception desk that situated in a pokey corner. The staff are nice but so far it's all looking a bit warn. Walked up the well trodden stairs to my room. Opened the door and KAPAW a wonderful room. Our eyes nearly fell out. Faultless, great double room. Lovely beds and a...

Dear Manydaysaway Thank you so much for taking the time to post a review on TripAdvisor. I'm so delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay, especially your room. From your review it sounds like you stayed in Beringer which is named after a German winemaker who founded the famous Beringer winery in California. We have managed to maintain lots of...

Ok so 5 friends visited this place. So what's the clientele here. We are 40 something. There were 2 families celebrating a 50th and a 35th bday. Rest was 39 something females meeting some date who had landed in new street. Food is the most important thing we care about. It was crap. The snails had no garlic flavour, no...

Dear IndiaUKdoc Thank you for taking the time to share your experience following a recent visit to our Bistro. I so wish we had known of your disappointment at the time as we would have done anything possible to try and do something about it there and then. As you know, we checked back on your table throughout the dinner...

With so many hotels close to the city centre there are very few distinguishing features between them. That said, Hotel du Vin stands head and shoulders above the rest. It is the little things that make all the difference, and when staff are not only attentive and polite, which you would expect, but also go out of their way to...

Dear Manydaysaway Thank you for choosing to stay with us at HdV, I'm so pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay. We have managed to maintain many of the original grand features of this Victorian Eye Hospital like the sweeping wrought iron staircase but the carpets are brand new! :) It's great to hear you liked your room so much....

Seamless check in/out, polite, friendly and efficient service throughout. Nice big room with good appointments and an excellent and non-leaking powerful monsoon shower ...also a free standing bath. Very comfortable bed with quality linen. Duvet was a bit Austriaish...somewhat heavy. Major building works opposite (would have liked to have got my hands round the throat of the builder who started his...

A nice change from your typical city centre hotel, quirky room, good decor with all facilities but my bathroom although fully functional with an amazing shower was very tired. Great value valet parking pull up outside and for £20 your car is taken stored and returned at your specified time in the morning right outside the door!

Dear Richard Thank you for taking the time to post a review on TripAdvisor of your recent stay. I am delighted to hear you had such an enjoyable stay. You have recommended that guests ask for a recently reburbished room and I am happy to say that all bedrooms were refurbished this year. We are currently working through our bathrooms...

We had a wonderful Afternoon Tea at HdV. From the booking, through to paying the bill, nothing was too much trouble. The fact that they not only listen to any special requests, they make sure that allergies are dealt with as well as preferences. We had champagne and a cocktail, then a selection of sandwiches, along with individual Victoria sponges,...

Not to the usual standard of HDV....building feels quite shabby and tired in places. Bedroom nice and an adequate size for a one night stay but the bathroom was in need of redecorating. Room very warm at night and incredibly noisy. Try and book another room at the back of the hotel. Reception staff were very welcoming and friendly. Enjoyed...

Dear Trinnytravel Thank you for choosing to stay at HdV. It's great to hear that you found my team friendly and enjoyed your breakfast but of course frustrating that you didn't find your stay good value and that your bathroom was not up to standard. Dear Roger Thank you for choosing to dine with us in Bistro du Vin. I am delighted to hear that you found the food fantastic but very sorry that the service did not live up to the same standards. Chewing gum on the stairs, chipped furniture and paint and generally run down. No comparison between the web pictures and what you get. Wifi barely works, no safe in rooms ..I could go on ..linen is clean which is about the best one can say for this place. We won't be back.

The room was nicely decorated but fairly small. There was lots of noise from the street late at night so not great for light sleepers. Not sure if there is a quieter side of the hotel.
