#6 of 30 in Stratford-upon-Avon
Travellers' Choice
Our hotel offers luxury accommodation in Stratford-upon-Avon, while crucially maintaining the charm, character and period features of the original building. The White Swan dates back to 1450, making it one of the oldest pubs in Stratford – and the front of the hotel is a cosy, traditional pub, continuing to serve outstanding cask ales and the best pub food in town. Our 41 four star guestrooms, marry traditional, original features with modern conveniences like iPod docks, flatscreen TVs and ensuite bathrooms. One thing not to miss on your visit to this historic Straford-upon-Avon pub is the antique wall painting in one of our front rooms. Commissioned by William Perrott, who owned the building in 1560, the special painting depicts the story of Tobias and the Angel - a subject doubly appropriate for a tavern of that time.

My boyfriend and I have stayed at the white swan hotel for a night or two, every October for the past few years for my Birthday. I absolutely adore it here. The hotel itself is the most beautiful hotel I've ever stayed at, the staff are always very friendly and accommodating. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are clean. The food served is delicious, we have had breakfast here and also our evening meal. The vegetarian options are always great. The building itself has so much character due to it's age, it's remarkable. Highly recommend a stay here.

Stayed here for a night on 3/05/22. The room was fairly basic but very clean and comfortable. The price was very reasonable. The breakfast is included in the price. I very much enjoyed the breakfast buffet which was very presentable and clean. The staff the two women today morning were very knowledgeable, helpful, smiley and friendly. I will definitely stay there again.

Dear thed851, Thank you for your review. I am really happy to read that you enjoyed your stay and that you found the price to be very reasonable. We do indeed include the Breakfast in the price of the room, and I am glad you enjoyed it. The buffet of continental items as well as the hot items cooked fresh to order are usually praised by most guests. It really pleased me to hear that the staff looked after you so well and were knowledgeable, helpful, smiley and friendly. I look forward to seeing you on your next visit. Regards, Sol

The Hotel is lovely and located perfectly for walks into Straford and the local attractions. The rooms were spacious, spotlessly clean and were really well presented. At £184, they are a little epxensive for what they are but we had a great overnight stay in Stratford so worth it. The only problem we had during the visit is realted to the bar staff. We stayed for a 40th family celebration as a party of 6. We returned to the hotel after a local meal and the bar staff were quite disengaged, unfriendly and their manner appeared tense. By the Spanish chatter between them (they were all Spanish) it appeared their had been some form of disagreement. At £184 per night after a hard working week, a few smiles and pleasant service are a bare minimum expectation. Perhaps one for the management to pick up. Nothing major but these things do matter.

Dear Bezmundo10 Thank you for your review. I am pleased that you found our location to be perfectly located, and I must admit that we are lucky to be so close to a lot of the tourist "must-sees" in town, as well as the Station. I am concerned about your comments surrounding the bar staff, as I expect all of our team to be friendly and effiecient at all times - I am sure if you read the majorit of the reviews here, they confirm this is normally the case, and I apologise you were not afforded the same level of service. I do not know who it was, but will look into this - we do not have any Spanish staff. I hope we can welcome you back in the future using your returning guest discount and you can see that your issue was an isolated one. Regards, Sol

A special lunch for 5 people - our waiter Thomas Franklin couldn't have been more attentive to our needs and the table looked beautiful. Food was good.. Hannah, the Event Manager was also a star. It really is a beautiful, historical restaurant, I hope they never change it. Thank you to all at the White Swan Hotel.

Dear Linda C Thank you for your review. I am delighted that you enjoyed your time with us, and that you thought our dining room is the most beautiful in town. I have to admit I agree, and I can assure you we have no intention of changing it - we adore the room, the history and the ambiance. I will pass on your kind words to both Thomas and Hannah who looked after you so well, and also to the Chef and her team who produced the good food. I hope we can welcome you back in the near future. Regards, Sol

The hotel's hallway was cosy and the lady at the reception was very kind! The room was comfortable and the hotel's pub was really particular and my burger was even good! No doubt the best part was breakfast, there was literally everything you could wish and everything was great and high quality. Going to Stratford Upon Avon and in particular to this hotel is an experience and I really recommend it as a lovely and instructive experience!
