We arrived early Saturday afternoon to a very welcoming host who was more than accommodating when arranging taxis into the city centre. The location of the hostel is also beneficial being located next to a large police station so felt very safe when waiting for the taxi. As regards the quality of the rooms, what more can I say. TREMENDOUS! Mattress quality was very soft and comfortable, the bed linen was of the finest Egyptian Cotten with goose feather pillows. Each room was furnished to the highest quality. I would definitely re-visit this establishment and will be bringing my wife to show her the quality later this year. Thank you Budget Hostel for the memories

Look, pay the extra ten quid and stay somewhere nice. This area is super dodgy, not suitable for school groups university students, really anyone. The hostel is dirty - looks and feels it. We booked this for a student group that was coming to visit - I have literally never regretted booking a hostel more. We actually reduced the number of rooms we needed the week before, and we didnt get our money back, despite constant chasing. The caretaker, was intimidating and rude - as a woman I felt I needd my male colleagues to come and defend me. AVOID. AT. ALL. COSTS. thanks. By the way, we stayed August 2018

Stayed with a couple of mates for a night out in Newcastle. It was cheap and done the the four of us, staff was extremely friendly and the owner was available if any problems. People from all walks of life and really friendly bunch who stayed the same weekend I did.

There are no words, this place is just grim and weird! Not cheap at all considering the reality of what awaits you, proper dodgy and nothing like a legitimate hostel. Stay anywhere else, it's really not worth it!

You check in at the shop below the hostel. It is dark and dingy as you head up the stairs. There was holes in the wall as we entered further up the second flight of stairs. The banister was broken, bits of sharp wood sticking out. The lock on our door was broken, as you can see with the pictures. The room was so small, too small for the 2 sets of bunk beds in it. As you can see our bed was actually held up with shopping baskets. The staff were very rude, and we had to phone the emergency number because other guests were being so loud, we had no sleep for the whole weekend due to the noise (which was fine as we were there to party) but them trying to get into our room made us feel very unsafe. Walls are paper thin and we heard everything from someone breathing to a girl repeatedly moaning from a sex noise. The place was black crawling in bugs, it was dirty from ceiling to floor. Felt like I was in a crack den.
