We stayed here for 4 nights in September. Karl and his family were very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were the best we have ever had including eggs benedict and scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, fruit and lovely toast and homemade jams. As others have commented the traffic going past was rather noisy and the shower was very small. However...

Only stayed one night but were impressed with the hospitality of the owner and the facilities in the room - better than some hotels! Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice available. Location a little "out of town" but only a few miles to pubs, restaurants etc. Were recommended a good Italian by the owner which was only a few...

It was a treat to stay at East Byermoor . Every comfort provided , spotlessly clean and with a lovely homely atmosphere. traditional Beds are superbly comfortable and after a wonderful night's sleep, a superb breakfast awaits. The fruit compote and delicious mushrooms were just two highlights!

Can't thank Karl enough for his help when I arrived after putting my back out the day before we travelled up to Whickham. After spending the first night in the double room which was upstairs, Karl noticed how much I was struggling with the stairs & moved us to one of the cottages, thank you so much for that Karl,...

A very comfortable B&B with a lovely setting and very quiet , not too far from town. The owners are very friendly with a very friendly dog that likes to visit. Our room was clean and very comfortable but the shower was tiny, a little difficult for men over 6 foot to move in. The cooked breakfast was yummy and...

Just a great and welcoming experience, perched up high with views across to the Pennines, and a breakfast that can't be beaten - and shouldn't be rushed! Happy for us to arrive early and change before going out, and great to be a bit out of the busy city, yet a quick taxi ride in.

Convenient outside busy city, rural feel and family run hospitality. Rooms had all facilities expected. We were provided with a good recommendation for an Indian restaurant. If you do not wish to be in the centre of the city, this is for you.

Fantastic place. We were welcomed with a pot of tea and cake much needed after a long journey. Karl, Jacqui and Mom made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. It felt like we were visiting friends. We had booked for 7 days and started in the Gibside room with lovely views over the garden. After 3...

Visited the area for a long Bank Holiday weekend and to take in a day at the Sri Lanka v England test match at Chester le Street cricket ground. Found East Byermoor easily - ample parking on-site. Perfect welcome from Karl and Jacqui - made to feel at home straightaway. Stayed in Byermoor room overlooking the garden - lovely and...

Warmly welcomed by Karl on arrival with tea and cake (always a good start!). Just stayed overnight. Room was cosy and spotlessly clean. Beautiful view over the fields. Lovely cooked breakfast. Would definitely recommend and return to if in the area again.
