Only a 6 minute ride from Newcastle’s city center (and 5 minute walk from West Jesmond metro station), the Newcastle Jesmond Hotel offers a great city location in a leafy vibrant suburb. Newly refurbished, our little hotel offers stylish rooms at great value and free wifi throughout. All rooms are fitted with a 32" flat screen TV, tea & coffee making facilities and an en suite wet room. Our on-site parking is free (first come first served) and nearby street parking available. Breakfast is a traditional continental (Breads, cereals inc porridge, fruit, cheese, crumpets, croissant with unlimited teas, coffee & fruit juices). Recently introduced hot plates for eggs or beans on toast giving a greater variety to get your morning started. Our location means we are close to both universities, 3 major hospitals (inc the Freeman) all of Newcastle’s business parks, and for our weekend travelers Jesmond itself boasts many bars, coffee shops, restaurants, delis & boutique shops. Not to mention the offerings of the city center itself with art galleries, historical sites & architecture, St James’ football stadium and more. We came here for our anniversary and was very impressed with the place and the surrounding amenities. We both felt comfortable and welcome and we'll looked after during our stay. We will definately be returning.

I'm very surprised to read previous reviews of the hotel needing a deep clean. We thought the absolute opposite. It was immaculate. This included our room, the communal areas, including a lovely lounge in reception with large screen TV, and the breakfast room. Our room was a small double (we knew this on booking) but it was plenty big enough for an overnight stay, was beautifully decorated, cosy, warm and had a great shower. There were two small wardrobes, a large wall mounted flat screen TV, ironing board and iron, hairdryer, portable digital heater (as well as central heating) and a large fan (catering for all weathers) . We managed to make the best use of parking at the back of the hotel due to other considerate guests and helpful staff. There is enough room for 6 cars so it is first come first served and it does say this on the website. The breakfast had a great choice of continental and hot food but again as it says on the website, they don't do any meat options so don't come here expected a full English. I ordered a freshly cooked omelette and it was lovely. Breakfast staff were very attentive and friendly. We would definitely stop here again over other hotels we have stayed in in the area. It is three stops on the metro from the City Centre taking 5 minutes and it is worth staying just outside of the city for the great location in Jesmond with lovely bars and restaurants (the number one restaurant in Newcastle is a 2 minute walk away and was amazing - please see my separate review of Saray). My son is at uni in Newcastle and lives locally - he says you could walk it from the city centre to the hotel in less than half an hour. It was excellent value for money. You definitely get what you pay for here and more in our opinion.

We stayed here last night, it was OK, but looked very tired and in need of a good clean. There were signs of mildew in the bathroom, cracks and holes which had been roughly filled in. The floor boards were really creaky and we could hear next doors TV and the room above us. The fire doors to the corridors banged loudly, so it isn’t the quietest of hotels, despite saying that it was soundproofed. We chose the hotel because it had parking, however, because other guests had parked inconsiderately, we could not access the car park, in order to use one of the available spaces. Maybe this isn’t the hotels fault, but, the cctv was being closely monitored at reception, so it would’ve been easy to approach the guest to ask them to use the spaces properly, before they disappeared out for the day/night. We parked down one of the side streets, about a 2 min walk away, which wasn’t too bad. On the plus side, the bed was very comfortable and the receptionist was lovely. We decided against breakfast, so can’t offer comments there. The location was ideal and the price was reasonable, but, you definitely get what you pay for.
