Treat for myself and a friend. We ordered the Hendrick's G and Tea cocktail and vegetarian selection. The quality of food was fantastic, good quality ingredients. Beautifully presented and a steal for £25. The service from Tessie was great. She was polite with typical Irish charm. Nothing was too much for her and she made a point of knowing all...

Unfortunately, I left my bag in what I thought was safe hands (with staff at reception) at lunch time as I couldn't check in till 3pm and when I returned to check in, it was handed back to me open & someone had gone it through the whole bag - items were even out of the bag! Very surprised &...

We got an upgrade to a Suite which was amazing. We had a lovely view of the Quayside and despite it being a busy Bank Holiday Sunday the staff were excellent making sure we had everything we needed. The breakfast was delicious and again the staff were second to none. We will definitely be back.

We only live down in Co. Durham but decided to have a trip up the road as a belated birthday celebration for my partner. We arrived at lunchtime and just left our bags at reception as it was too early to check in and we were then heading out for an afternoon of drinks/food with friends. When we arrived back...

Wow. Great location, very friendly welcome from staff and great service, food was very well presented and very good value for money. 3 course meal, with option of soup and cold buffet as starters so in fact could be classed as 4 course. Roast beef was really good. My only criticism would be the air conditioning was just a little...

The hotel is in a lovely location overlooking the Tyne (albeit that I didn't get a room with a view). All the staff were very friendly and chatty. The room was a good size and had all necessary amenities - that said I'm amazed by how few hotels have a plug point for you phone/ alarm next to the bed....

We booked up for afternoon tea thinking it would be really busy due to the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, but thankfully it was as chilled out and relaxed as it always is. Upon arrival we were informed that there was a special chocolate version of the regular afternoon tea on the menu, and of course we chose that!! It was...

Spent last Tuesday night, dinner, bed and breakfast here. Hotel generally spotless and comfortable. View over the Millenium Bridge, Baltic and Sage very atmospheric when illuminated at night. Brasserie restaurant service excellent and dinner superb. Decent enough continental breakfast though I prefer "real bread" to brioche and there was no choice though toast was available. OH enjoyed his cooked, English...

We came for a late Easter Sunday lunch and were pleasantly surprised. To be honest, we suspected it was going to be a bit chavvy, but it wasn't too bad at all. We didn't dine until around 3.30 and at that point the starter buffet had been well and truly picked through. What was left was ok if not spectacular...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Fog on the Tyne? Let's hope not. Otherwise you'll miss the great view of the Tyne Bridge you get from our hotel in Newcastle city centre. But then, when you're staying at Malmaison Newcastle, it's the views on the inside that tell you your boat's come in. While you're right at the heart of Newcastle's great shops and exciting nightlife, the lure of MALBAR's legendary cocktails and the Mal Brasserie's classic dishes with a twist is pretty strong. And who wants to spend all night out on the town when one hotel in Newcastle has a whole floor with a shipbuilding theme and bathtubs you could sink a battleship in? It could only be the Newcastle Mal. ... more   less
