This is a beautiful little boutique hotel, but don't expect it to be very modern, it's more charismatic that generic brand hotels which is great! The room was beautifully decorated and the little extras such as the Molton Brown soups and the hot chocolate Sanches and cookies for the kettle in the room were and added bonus. Staff at the...

The Mandolay Hotel in Guildford is not the Orchard Hotel in Singapore nor is it the Sultan Hotel in Jakarta but it is a small boutique hotel I have no problem in recommending. A hotel is more then bricks and mortar because within this shell humans have to make the hotel function and most of the staff do above and...

Thank you Donald for your very kind words, I will make sure to pass your comments on to the members of staff you mention in your review. I was sorry to read of the slight housekeeping issue, I can assure you that this oversight is not indicative of the level of service we usually provide but I am grateful to...

Booked here for 2 nights for a wedding invite. We had an executive room on the ground floor. The room was clean and well presented. Luckily it was only 2 nights as the wardrobe is a tiny cupboard with absolutely no space for anything more than a few items of clothing. So as not to crease our clothes by squashing...

We stayed here for one night on Friday 3rd March in room 51. This is on the ground floor of one of the annexes. The room was fine - clean, well lit, everything worked, the bed and the pillows were comfortable. The bathroom had everything you needed but it was very small and I struggled to get dried in there...

Many thanks for your review and kind comments. The Mandolay Hotel is made up of three Edwardian buildings and a new extension to the rear, as we refurbish the rooms in the older part of the hotel we treat all floorboards and fit special 'noise reducing' underlay. We have a very small number of bedrooms that are yet to benefit...

Hotel was good, staff are a credit to you, very professional and helpful, food good apart from the breakfast...I know hotels want to cook breakfast fresh for everybody, but when 15 people arrive in the restaurant at the same time and you only have one chef, with one pair of hands, the result is that we had to wait, and...

We stayed here for one evening and the hotel was extremely clean and comfortable and the staff incredibly helpful ... especially with a request for honey and lemons to help with a sore throat! My only criticism is the price of the breakfast - £17.50 is the price of an evening meal not a cooked breakfast!!

Thanks for the review and kind comments, I hope that the sore throat was eased. We try to offer a range of choices at breakfast to suit all tastes and budgets. The full English is extremely popular as is the lighter continental option with freshly squeezed juices, cold meats and cheeses, fresh pastries and fruit. Thanks again for your comments,...

We were going out for a meal at a local restaurant and so we could both have a drink and not drive home I booked this hotel. On arrival the hotel was very clean and bright. We signed in and we're advised that as they had been fully booked the night before our room may not be ready. They checked...

Thanks for posting a review of your recent stay, we do make every effort to allow early check-in and I was pleased to read that we were able to do so on this occasion. Extra items are always available from reception, I am sorry if this was not immediately obvious, I will look at producing some notices for each tray....

Stayed on business trip in Feb 17 - lovely hotel and a very responsible rate for room only (booked through comparison site) however breakfast was very expensive at central London prices. Simalar when I ordered a latte coffee which was four quid!! Staff nice but perhaps more help with understanding basic English woudl be better - lovely people though.

Thanks for your review and kind comments. We try to provide breakfast options to suit most tastes and budgets, all our hot food is cooked fresh and we take pride in offering the finest selection of fruits, freshly baked pastries, fresh juices and cold meats. We could reduce the quality and choice in order to bring down prices but as...

Very helpful staff and excellent facilities in our room , although a little small . ( we are not big people ! ) . Good bar service and selection of branded spirits at normal Hotel prices . Breakfast was very well organised with good quality food and excellent staff who cleared tables efficiently .

The hotel is a bit of a walk up the High Street from the station (about 15mins) - up hill most of the way too. First impression from the outside is of a well-maintained small'ish hotel. Lots of steps up to the main entrance but I did notice a side entrance for wheelchairs (functional though not a particularly attractive route...
