Pleasently surprised that it actually lived up to 4 star standards. Good food, service and very nice bedrooms. I loved the cocktail bar in the basement. Really enjoyed my stay and will definitely be back.

The hotel is excellently situated on the edge of the shops and near to the Abbey. This does have its downsides though, we had a front facing room which gave better views but was noisy in the early morning, and we didn't even have the window open. It isn't cheap here - we paid £130 night excl breakfast, which we...

This is our third visit to this hotel and we continue to find it an excellent place to stay. The location is great, valet parking, which is always welcome when parking could be a challenge, lovely staff who give a warm welcome, tasty freshly cooked breakfast and well appointed, comfy rooms. What more could you want? We will undoubtedly go...

Booked to stay here as a belated 40th birthday treat. We stayed on the 15th and 16th Feb 2017. Our first night was the teatox package and the second night we had the spa treatment stay. We checked in and a lovely member of staff collected our bags from the car and carried them to our room (224). This contemporary...

Chose the Angel because of location - close to the center and the theatre. The hotel is very nice, with helpful staff and cosy communal areas. Our room was on the first floor overlooking the Abbey Gardens. The room was massive, super king bed, couch, easy chair desk and writing area. The bathroom was also large with his and hers...

This hotel is central to the town, so is within easy walking distance of most of the amenities. The staff were pleasant, attentive and helpful. Our room was a reasonable size for a short stay, well equipped and well maintained, as were the other facilities. The breakfast was nice but a little on the expensive side. I would thoroughly recommend...

Having read several reviews we booked an overnight stay with afternoon tea for our anniversary celebration and to say we were overwhelmed would be an understatement. The room we had whilst a little dated was really clean, an excellent size with ensuite, spectacular views to the front and a four poster bed. The afternoon tea was really good, with endless...

We had a great evening at the bar in The Angel hotel. Danny and Craig looked after us really well and the cocktails were superb. Recommend The Drunken Sailor cocktail but ask for cocktail of the day for something different.

The hotel is very well situated in the town, on the Abbey Gardens side of the city centre. Staff were very friendly and my room was quite spacious with a view onto the gardens (and the car park it should be noted). Four poster bed, high ceilings, room for a desk, wardrobe and chest of drawers, plus a free standing...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This Georgian ivy clad 4 star boutique hotel and restaurant in Suffolk surprises with a twist of urban chic. Our Suffolk hotel is right in the heart of Bury St Edmunds town centre and everything is just a step from here. Explore winding, cobbled, shop filled streets and a plethora of ancient architecture on the doorstep. Once inside, The Angel Hotel is a curious contrast of comfy contemporary design with touches of exotic grandeur. Warm leather sofas vie for your company in the lounge, which is filled with curiosities, pop art, eccentric oddities and cool vintage furniture. It is a hotel of many different aspects all artfully blended together into an exciting package and the bedrooms are no exception. The Angel Eaterie has a great reputation and dining here is a culinary treat. Take the steps down into the decadently curious Wingspan Cocktail Bar & Lounge located in the 12th Century vaults under the Hotel. Wingspan is the perfect location to meet with friends, for pre-dinner drinks, or simply to relax after a long day. ... more   less
