We had two nights here en route from Anglesey to Polperro and loved it. Huge 6' bed which is the comfiest bed you will ever experience with real feather pillows and crisp white linen. Every comfort in the room, little touches like tissues, offer of fresh milk, Neals Yards toiletries (yum), lovely porcelain mugs for your tea. Breakfasts very well...

Just returned from a night at the White Hart Hotel in Wells. The building is very old, so don't expect all mod cons, but the owners have done the best with what they have. Our room was small, with a shower instead of a bath, but we had booked last minute and it was the only double remaining. It was...

My husband and I stayed for one night in order to attend a concert at Wells Cathedral. The White Hart is opposite the Cathedral Close and is a few minutes walk from the High Street. The positives: our room was lovely, very spacious, spotlessly clean. There was a small sofa and lots of hanging space for clothes. The bathroom had...

Lovely small Inn, very friendly staff. Nice traditional decor. Our room was ground floor which was convenient. The Inn is in a central location, right opposite the cathedral. The bedroom was comfortable with a nice shower and lovely shampoo etc.

We really enjoyed our brief stay at the White Hart, providing us the perfect base to look around Wells. The accommodation was good and the dinner and breakfast were very good, thoroughly recommend the Full English in the morning. The staff went out of their way to make us feel very welcome which I think is one of the key...

Well, firstly, the positives. We were allowed to take our dog with us. The room was clean and well appointed. The girl on the reception desk was very pleasant. That's about it. There was no porter. The radiator was stuck on hot (this was mid July - mid heatwave!) and nothing could be done to turn it off. The floors/ceilings...

We stayed in the White Hart Hotel at the beginning of august. Rainy days but the gardens looked fresh and green because of it and the lunch rooms were packed. So no complaints. The location The hotes is really close by all the sights. The famous cathedral is right across the street. The bishops palace and Vicars' Close are adjacent....

We have just returned from a lovely and very enjoyable weekend stay at the White Hart in Wells and the staff, in particular the reception staff and Jacqueline were exceptional! Nothing was too much trouble for them and they made us feel so welcome and at home! The rooms are very clean and comfortable and the beds in particular are...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Recently taken over by new owners (September 2015) the 15th century White Hart Hotel is situated in the city centre just 10 short steps from the famous Cathedral. Its 15 en suite bedrooms make the perfect base from which to explore Wells and the surrounding area. The restaurant serves locally sourced British food cooked by Head Chef Matthew Briddon (River Café). Wells is a medieval city nestling on the southern side of the Mendip Hills with the mystic Somerset Levels stretching away to the south and west. The history of Wells goes right back to Roman times when it was known that there was a settlement, probably because of the springs that bubble up here. Wells gets its name from these springs which can today be found in the gardens of the Bishop's Palace. Bristol, Bath, Glastonbury, Glastonbury Tor, Cheddar, Clarks Village, Wells Golf Club and Longleat are all close by. ... more   less
