A beautiful hotel combining stunning antique architectural features and modern design perfectly. Superb location opposite the cathedral, around the corner from the market place and on a road with lots of independent restaurants. The staff were keen to help, discuss our choices and cared whether we'd had a good experience. We easily found a space in the car park -...

Regretfully had to travel to the far west for a funeral so decided to base ourselves in Wells for a couple of days. The location is perfect and made obvious because an old bakery was demolished to provide a view of the Cathedral. We had a large room with an equally large bed, which was exeedingly comfortable. So much so...

Stayed 4 nights as a couple to attend concert in Cathedral and 80th birthday celebration. Without exception all the staff we encountered were superb, welcoming, positive and ready to assist in any way. Rooms were absolutely spotless and housekeeping at a very high standard. Breakfast was good offering plenty of choice including a vegetarian grill at breakfast as well as...

As legend would have it, Churchill once stayed here in big suite. They only pointed to the door of the room as someone was already staying there when we visited. But it is quite believable. The place is very charming and is just outside the Wells Cathedral. We stayed in two separate rooms on different floors in different wings of...

We just stayed one night after visiting Cheddar Gorge. Arriving late afternoon there weren’t so many spaces for parking as a number of builders vans etc. around but we got a space, it’s quite a squeeze width-wise to get to the parking though. Our room was #4 which was out the back in one of what seemed several outbuilding type...

Wasn't expecting much but found room to be more than adequate, very good shower. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Food was definitely better than expected, tasty well cooked breakfast, for dinner I was served starter of very good mussels in cream, juicy steak, nice desert etc.etc. and very good food service. Definitely worth holding onto that chef (they must...

We booked 3 nights at The Swan in Wells to celebrate an anniversary. Did not realise when booking that we would be sleeping in the Coach House which is a short walk at the back of the hotel. Accommodation was very tired and dated but clean. We were not too bothered about the room as we only slept in it....

Thank you for taking the time to submit a positive review of the hotel. I thought that you might be interested to know that we have embarked on a major refurbishment project in our Coach House. Over the next few weeks all 15 bedrooms (and bathrooms) are being completely redecorated. The works should finish in March. I hope that we...
