As usual, a pleasure to stay at Cheddar hostel. Managed with a light touch, but always welcoming and friendly. Studying in Somerset 1 or 2 days a week since September 2015, I have stayed here quite a few times over the past 18 months, and always enjoyed it.

This was our first overnight family cycling trip and getting to the hostel in Cheddar was a very welcome relief. The staff were warm and friendly showing us the bicycle store straight away. The family room was spacious and clean. It's particularly nice to have an area for the children to play/read in before/after dinner and there is a good...

Thank you very much for you kind words, we look forward to welcoming you back to YHA Cheddar or any other YHA in the network. With only one lounge we do realise this can cause a bit of disturbance with people wanting different things but this also creates a positive Buzz and encourages guest to be social and get the...

Ideal for walking in and around cheddar gorge Clean and tidy, secure and well staffed by friendly individuals Good value for money, car park a bonus but does get busy at times. Kitchen area always clean and well equipped. Thanks :-)

Thanks for you kind words and we're glad you had a time enjoying the surrounding walks. The Mendips and the Avalon marshes do provide fantastic and varied walking. We hope to see you on your next walking break.

We've stayed here for 4 nights in August. The hostel is located in Cheddar, 15 minutes walk of cheddar gorge. It's located in the middle of town, so you don't have a real rural feeling. Cheddar is small, so the countryside is really nearby. The hostel is divided in two buildings, each with facilities. The rooms (we stayed in room...

Thanks for making your first UK hostel stay with us, we hope that it will be the first of many more. Thanks for your suggestion about our garden, we love the buzz of our garden in full swing in the summer months. We look forward to seeing you again.

Staff at YHA Cheddar were all lovely and went out of their way to be helpful. Lovely lounge areas. Our room was small and a bit tatty - in need of a lick of paint etc. But it was clean and quiet and beds were comfy. Great location, a quick walk to a range of nice pubs, Tesco Express round...

Thanks for your kind words, you're right we are in the centre of the village so all the amenities are just on your door step. We're sorry that you found the condition of your room was not up to or normal standards hopefully next time you'll find things a bit fresher. Thanks for being a great guest.

Hmmm...not quite as good as the website suggested. Amidst housing rather than open countryside. Very small rooms and small dining area. Rooms were in separate building. The garden could be made much more inviting especially for children. Showe room full of fifty plus tiny flies and door appeared stained at the bottom. Disappointed with breakfast which was the most economic...

Thank you very much for your review, I apologise that your stay was not up to our usual high standards. We do take an estimated time for breakfast but this is only a guideline so that our staff are prepared for when our guest want breakfast service and our food is not held for long periods of time, I apologise...

Stayed here with my teenage family during school holidays. Plenty of space for everyone even though hostel was full. Kitchen space not bad, and very nice and clean. Conservatory dining area was very nice and bright and felt welcome and comfortable throughout the hostel. A few mins walk to the shops - supermarket, bakery and butchers shop etc as well...

Got what we hoped for: friendly knowledgeable staff, decent bed (+bedding), everything clean, decent breakfast + wifi. Bonus points for having kids board games in the communal area. Staff aware of the size difficulties of room 15, so booked us in over two rooms meaning our luggage could be spread out. Slight negatives: very limited parking, so we had to...

Thanks for your review and positive comments our staff love to hear that they have helped make our guest's stay memorable. Unfortunately our wonderful Victorian building in a residential area mean that our car park is as big as it can be however the road at the end of our shared driveway has no parking restrictions and is less than...

Usual YHA sleeping accommodation, ie bunk beds in dormitory, but the beds were modern and excellent and the room was bright and modern. They have an excellent restaurant and catered for us all. Very good group accommodation.

We often have a lot of groups from different walks of life so our accommodation is very much designed to facilitate comfortable group stays. Once again thank you for your review.

The rooms are small with bunk beds and a tiny sink. This is ok for a cheap trip or a school trip/ rugby tour. The food is good but a little dry, the atmosphere is very layed back. The parking is limited and the road leading to it is very narrow.

Hi James, thanks for your feedback. YHA Cheddar is a lovely little hostel however as you say we appreciate that some of the rooms may be a little tight. Since your stay we have decided to look at the configuration of some of the rooms to see if we can get a little bit more space so hopefully next time...
