This has to be one of the very best places to stay in Bath. Our second visit and just as impressed second time round. The rooms are distinctive, luxurious and comfortable. Some lovely little touches like the bottle of water and fresh milk in a flask left daily. The breakfast is amazing And plentiful with daily special also on offer.... More

From my initial contact with Harry I knew this was going to be a very special place. Harry could not have been a better host. On arriving, Harry gave us a really warm welcome and chatted about what we were planning to do and see. He then highlighted on a City map places of interest for us. His recommendations were... More

We loved everything about our 2-night stay at Hill House. It's less than a 10 minute walk from the town centre and pretty much everything there we wanted to visit. The hosts were both lovely, you felt nothing would have been too much trouble, Harry gave us some good tips on our day out in Bristol while Douglas cooked us... More

My wife and I stayed here for two nights and had a wonderful time, the trip advisor reviews are all spot on,Douglas and Harry are just great hosts, nothing is too much trouble, and breakfast at the single table with the other guests is great fun. The room was large and well appointed and with a couch to sit and read... More

My husband booked this guest house for a weekend in Bath and I am so glad he found it! I rang and asked if a chilled bottle of fizz could be ready for our arrival and it was-presented in our room in an elegant ice cooler with glasses. What a wonderfully warm welcome we received from Douglas. A perfect length... More

The owners of Hill House, Douglas and Harry, are the friendliest hosts we met on a recent visit to the UK. Nothing was too much trouble and we had the best advice on what to see, where to shop and the cosiest pubs to enjoy. The breakfasts prepared by Douglas were a real treat and Harry's cheerful banter looked forward... More

If we can rate this property 6 stars, we would unhesitatingly do so. A fabulously charming place. We did a 1 night whistle stop in Bath and even that was not too small for the owners. Douglas was very helpful literally from the moment we took our big luggage out from the car boot to the time we put it... More

From the moment your walk through the door you're greeted like long lost friends. The facilities were first class, the breakfast generous and well cooked. Recommended without hesitation, we are already planning our return visit.

We enjoyed a wonderful three night stay at Hill House. Douglas and Harry were charming hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them. Our bedroom/sitting room was spacious and comfortable and beautifully appointed. Breakfast is around a communal dining table so you get to meet some really interesting people while enjoying Douglas' delicious home cooked breakfast. The house is... More

This was our second visit to Hill House in Bath and won't be our last. Hill House is a haven of charm near the top of Lansdown Road, but well placed for the City centre. The rooms are equipped and decorated to a high standard. The breakfast options can vary from a standard (but very good English breakfast) to more... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to our home! Hill House was built in 1765 at the end of a Georgian terrace behind the Assembly rooms in Central Bath. Built originally as a hotel it later became a wine merchants and then a pub. The current owners purchased the property in 2011 and have updated the property throughout. The modernisation has been sympathetically undertaken to retain as much of the period of charm of the property as possible. The property now has six en suite letting rooms located one at the front and one at the back on each of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors of the property. All bedrooms are equipped with newly appointed shower rooms, 32” digital Televisions, hairdryers and free wifi. The more the stairs the better the views from the rooms across Bath to the countryside beyond!Breakfast is served in our dining room on one large table, where reccomendations of what to see and where to eat are shared. Besides a choice of cereals etc we also offer a choice of two cooked breakfasts per day which vary throughout the week. We are able to cater for most dietary requirements but ask for as much notice as possible as we do not carry some items as stock as we are only a small establishment. This is our home and we want you to be able to relax in it. We have ironing facilities and a house sewing kit to hand. If you need anything else please ask and we will see what we can do.Hill House is a 2 minute walk from the Assembly Rooms and five minutes from the main shopping centre and Royal Crescent. There are plenty of local places to eat and drink close by and we would be happy to give recommendations upon request. On street Parking permits are available but will need to be reserved. ... more   less
