Just returned from a 3 night stay at this quiet but pleasant hotel. The rooms are comfortable if a bit tired, the bar is lacking in atmosphere and apparently little used but now for the positives - the breakfast is substantial and outstanding quality, there is a car park at the front and the location in relation to river walks...

Stayed here for four nights whilst touring in the area. A great base close to all amenities and the River Severn walks. Very comfortable, clean and lovely breakfast. Found the owners Eileen and Andrew and members of staff very friendly and helpful. I will return here again if I revisit Shrewsbury.

Visited abbots mead for 3 nights. Lovely friendly family run hotel. Gorgeous breakfasts with plenty of choice. The rooms were a little tired and needed updating , smelt a little foisty. Worth a visit though

The hotel is clean, comfortable, helpful and friendly staff (many family), excellent breakfasts, welcoming. The small bar and separate lounge are very comfortable to sit in and there was no problem about our bringing in a takeaway salad for our evening meal.

My parents have stayed here while down visiting. They seem to like the place. This visit they have stayed somewhere else but are returning to stay here. I think they like the quiet area and they did say the man was very nice.

The owners/managers were a pleasant and helpful couple as were the breakfast waiting staff, evening receptionist and cleaner. These were the only staff we met but all were friendly and efficient. Our room was comfortable and clean though a bit dated. It had a telly and coffee, tea and hot chocolate facilities. Location is ideal for walks into town and...

I stayed at this hotel with three friends for two nights over New Year, Simply furnished, comfy & clean room with good facilities, although there was some annoying noise from a pump or fan. Good English breakfast. Reception and breakfast staff were friendly. Only issue was the bar which didn't stay open late, but there was a night porter available....

When planning a two night break in Shrewsbury, we considered the Premier Inn at £59 per night but when you added in the cost of of breakfast and parking, the Abbots Mead Hotel was a better deal with the advantage of a much better location and the friendly service of a privately owned hotel. Rooms are small but very comfortable...

My husband and I were attending a party in Shrewsbury. We chose this hotel due to its location. It has parking for 10 cars. Situated in town with a 5 min walk into town. Also by the river too. Not a hotel for great views, but in perfect close proximity to the town centre. The double bedroom was small but...

This is a in a nice location, quiet, short walk into the centre, very close to the river walk for your early morning walk before a good English breakfast. All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful.
