It's just quietly comfortable nich staff and good food. The breakfast staff are exceptional. We love to just sit in the lounge and relax over a pot of coffee. Parking is great in a town that is difficult - to say the least!

I had booked several weeks in advance for afternoon tea with mum as a treat for Mother's Day. I live in Shrewsbury and have loved the Lion Hotel for years for it's traditional old fashioned feel, which is why I chose it. We arrived and although they had reserved us a table, the chairs had been taken so we had...

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to write a review further to your afternoon tea experience on Saturday. Please be assured your comments will be discussed with the team and I'm sorry your Mum had to ask three times for some water. It was very busy on Saturday and we had all the tables reserved and staffing levels...

Very welcoming staff-not an hotel for people with limited mobility. There is a lift -lots of rooms are up/down steep/awkward steps-which is unsurprising given the age of the original bits of the hotel.

The facade and interior of the original hotel is quaint. However, I would say that the hotel rooms them-self could do with a little updating. The stay was part of a package, and what we received was good value.

As an International Heritage student, I found The Lion Hotel to truly represent what I would consider, heritage. The interior of this building is so fascinated, that I felt that if it was possible, I would spend some months there. The room was clean, but the bathroom is very modern. The breakfast was excellent with so much to choose from....

My husband and myself stayed at the Lion for one night and have to say it still has charm. Ok may have creeks but it is a grade 1 listed building . Anastaia on reception was a delight and was very helpful. We returned after 1 am and the lovely night porter offered to make us a sandwich as I...

When booking I'd asked for a quiet room away from lift, kitchen, etc. And that we were there for a significant birthday. The suites had already gone so we had an Executive room. When we arrived soon after lunch the room wasn't ready so we went to explore the town. On getting back we found the allocated room, 313, was...

We visit Shrewsbury for a weekend break twice a year and we always stay at the Lion, in the middle of town convenient for everything, good value and service, we even pick the same room, can't fault it after it's 400 years history, parking is a bit tight

Dear guest, Thank you for your review, we really do appreciate guest feedback and delighted we continue to meet your expectations every time you stay and you can't find fault with the historic Lion Hotel! The Lion is a fantastic historic coaching inn which is very much imbedded in the history of Shrewsbury. Its a fabulous old building with cosy partitioned lounges and impressive fireplaces, creaky oak floors and even the high chairs looked like they'd been used by the off spring of Charles Dickens!! Our room was pleasant and fairly quiet and thankfully the...
