If you want old world charm and atmosphere this is the place for you. Food is exceptional and staff friendly. However if you are over 70 make sure you do not get a room on the second floor. The stairs go on for ever.

Ok I would have probably given the hotel 4 stars if being ultra critical and nitpicking details, however this hotel is in a very good, quiet location with polite and friendly staff. The building oozes character and originality. The breakfast was also excellent, so to my mind dese

we stayed just the one night, the room was fine, bed comfy. The weather was cold and the room was dual aspect with lovely views of the castle. The room took a long time to warm even with the radiator up full and a small oil filled radiator turned on. We suggested a larger heater

We stayed for 2 nights in a family room on the top floor of this hotel (athough I noticed that it calls itself a restaurant with rooms in some places). I booked the hotel online and everything was dealt with professionally. On arrival we were met and greeted professionally. Th

Do you know its against the law to debit credit cards without the customers consent? Luckily the bank revered the charge. This is a very serious matter of fraud. You will be hearing from my solicitor.
Is there lift access to rooms. Separate walk in shower?
I am sorry but we do not have a lift and all room have baths with showers over no walk in showers

is there safe car-parking ?
Yes. There's a fairly large gravel car park in the hotel walled grounds accessed through gates from the road. Gates aren't shut at night as far as I know but it seems perfectly secure

I have been wondering if we have made a mistake in bookin this for later on in the year as it seems somewhat perplexing. One thing I did find irritating on the confirmation was a compulsory 10% to be added to all food and drinks. Is this not something way in the past and should it not be up to the individual to decide if the service is worth it ..... do the hotel fear it is not and further more to the staff actually get it as many establishments are in the news on this subject. One would suppose on this basis that it is better to find a decent restaurant elsewhere where this choice could be made. We live in hopes
Service charge is optional so just delete it if you cannot justify it. As you say the staff probably never get to see it.Folding notes handed to staff who deserve it works wonders.

Did you not find it irritating that the hotel shows a compulsory 10% service charge on food and drink where any substantial business will leave it to the client to decide if the service if worth a tip. If thst is the case do the hotel fear that it would not
