It's really cheap and friendly. Cleanliness is not the correct word, but if you don't have children under 10 years or wife, it's really good. The BEST place for visiting Sheffield and starting for Stanage Edge, Chatsworts House and Peak District National Park, all together. The owner seems particular but in a positive sense, he's able to provide you with...

Ok so I booked this with all good intentions and very aware that this would be a budget stay and would expect just that and no more. The lady on the phone kindly said she was able to accommodate my friend and two adolescent children across two rooms as well. On arrival the first thing that hit me as I...

This will sum it up: A cross between the Norman Bates Psycho house and your great gran's house. I spent a truly awful night at Thornsett house. I stayed here while on business and had heard a terrible review from another colleague who stayed the night before so went that afternoon in hesitation to check it out. First of all,...

This is a low budget place. We had a room under the roof which was really quiet. 2 rooms under the roof sharing one toilette and shower. The lady was friendly but seemed a bit dis-organised. When we arrived she didnt remember our booking. She quickly changed the bed linen in our room as former guests left just some hours...

I spent a very pleasant two days at Thornsett House. It is in a good location being a short walk into Sheffield centre and Ecclesall Road. Des was very welcoming and gave me lots of helpful advice about the local area. I found my room comfortable, clean and excellent value.

The B&B is peaceful and serene, and whats more to ask its located bang next to city centre, waitrose, abbeydale road which has a lot of diners etc. The owner, himself is informative, helpful and friendly, enjoyed some nice discussions over breakfast. It is also really good value for money. I will be staying again, definitely.

I have now stayed with Des twice and he is very freindly and laid back. The guesthouse is in a nice part of the city and easily walkable into town. It's not the Ritz but for a city centre Des offers excellent value for money and nothing is too much trouble. I really enjoy our chats about his mad schemes...

Having stayed at Thornsett for several one-night stopovers over the past few months (circa Sept/Nov 2012), I'd like to share my opinion of this truly excellent traditional English B&B run by Des & Kitty. But let me start with this - if you desire something very formal & grandiose feel free to look up the local 'Ritz' and pay for...

Have just returned to london following a weekend visit to Sheffield. I wanted somewhere affordable, great location, and great food. Thornsett house certainly ticked all the boxes, great rates, the room was on £30! And with a great cooked english breakfast from Kitty! Wonderful! Great location, 10 minutes bus journey to the city centre! I will certainly returning, Des and...
