Initially we were a little apprehensive due to not realising how close to the university campus it was. However we had no need to worry, students very well behaved and went about there business. The hotel itself is lovely kept very traditional. All areas were clean and tidy, the staff who greeted us were lovely two ladies I forget their names but I know one was a new starter. Both of them were extremely helpful offering advise of were we could go for a walk etc. The room was also nice with everything we needed, however it mentioned that we would have robes and slippers but didn't see them, could have been due to covid maybe. We also ate there on the evening and both my wife and I had one of the specials, this was absolutely fantastic very well cooked and fresh, didn't have to wait to long either. After dinner we went outside on the patio to finish our drinks. Breakfast was equally as good and the staff again were so very helpful. Thank you to all, we had a great time away celebrating my wife's birthday.

We celebrated our wedding here May 22nd, in their first week of reopening after Covid restrictions. We had the most fabulous day made all the more perfect with the attention of all the amazing staff. The ceremony room looked beautiful. The canapes and drinks reception were lovely outside in the garden. The food was gorgeous, the smoked and beetroot cured salmon starter looked and tasted amazing, several people commented they had not had such melt in the mouth lamb and the assiette of summer deserts was perfect. Thank you to Amy for organising and nothing being too much trouble when she had to reorganise everything again twice due to the latest government guidelines. Thank you to Emma on the day for being so welcoming and keeping everything on track and James for gently keeping everyone within the guidelines. All the staff were absolutely lovely and could not do enough for us. They really made our day and I would thoroughly recommend Halifax Hall to anyone for their special day. Best Wishes, Mags & Kris

Had our wedding at Halifax hotel and it was so beautiful. The staff were amazing especially during all the regulations changing with covid. We got an amazing package which was perfect for us and they did everything to make sure our day goes without a glitch. Even though they were on point with everything, they also didn’t hover. They allowed us to just get on with our program but were on hand when we needed them. Definitely coming back to celebrate our anniversary. What an amazing hotel. Thank you to Amy our coordinator and the whole of the Halifax Hall staff!

Overall we were most pleasantly surprised. The majority of online reviews do this property a great injustice. It is friendly, welcoming, clean, warm and certainly exceeded our expectations. Clearly this property was part of the university at one time but had been carefully reworked into a budget hotel that puts many others to shame. It does not attempt to hide the fact i is on the university campus and was halls in a previous life. The large shower room and WC in room 214 was a delight, the beds were comfy and the property spotless. I especially liked the corridor coffee machines, no messing around boiling kettles in your room. Plenty of storage space and our accommodation was well heated. The evening meal was tasty and good value and breakfast certainly set us up for the day. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Halifax Hall, excellent value, friendly and does what it says on the can. We would certainly stay here again!

Dear DSA402621, Thank you so much for such a wonderful review of Halifax Hall, we really try our best to ensure that every guest enjoys their stay with us so it's great to hear how much of a nice time you had. It's lovely to hear your comments on the transformation of Halifax Hall from girls accommodation to a boutique hotel. The building was formerly a Victorian steel baron’s mansion and was later renovated into a University hall of residence for more than 80 years. We have maintained a lot of the buildings original features such as parquet flooring and fireplaces in some of the bedrooms and function rooms. As a mansion it had its own grounds, before being built upon by the surrounding halls of residence. Our promotional images show off the building’s original character as we are rather fond of our hotels history. Instead of having coffee/tea making facilities in the rooms, we have quality bean-to-cup coffee machines on every floor that our guests can help themselves to as much as they like, I'm glad you liked them. It’s good to see that you enjoyed both breakfast and dinner in our restaurant. Our Head Chef takes prides in our menus and creates all of the dishes with locally sourced ingredients which always taste better in my opinion! Thank you again for such a great review and we hope you keep us in mind the next time you visit Sheffield. Kind regards, Alexa Foster Guest Services Manager
