Had Xmas day lunch here, 6 family members. The hotel has a nice old fashioned feel to it. Xmas lunch didn't go well! I ordered a fish lunch, it was very dry & not enjoyable, I asked for any type of sauce to make it better & was told the chef would do me a nice sauce, my meal went... More

Sheffield & District Wireless Society, of which I am Chair, has been using the Dovedale Suite for the last two years and which has proven to us to make for a fantastic venue for holding talks, events, activities and social get togethers. We know we can create useful lecture room layout to comfortable hold 100 visitors, but we tend to... More

This is an older type building but the rooms are done out to a modern standard. Decor in the bedrooms is a bit dark but all clean and perfectly acceptable. Modern bathrooms and wet-room showers. The bar and dining area was too cold for me, certainly needs more heating and a decor update but the staff were friendly and the... More

We recently came for my mums boyfriends suprise 50th birthday party. The venue was great! Couldn't fault in the slightest. The food was gorgeous, polite staff. And came in with a warm welcome. We also stayed for the night. The rooms are lovely, very comfortable. Breakfast service was great, the food came out in no time. All of us would... More

I stayed here at the weekend for a university study weekend and the university could not have made a better choice of venue. The rooms and facilities were very high quality (a lot of work has been put into making the hotel up to date and modern). Very comfy bed and a fantastic bathroom. The main thing that impressed me... Spent two nights here for a university study weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. Pleasant room, comfy bed (even with interesting, large photo canvas above it!), good conference room facilities and great base for the center of Sheffield. Bit noisy at night but my room was facing the main road and had traditional ash windows (and it was the end of... More

I stayed in this hotel for a university reunion. I was surprised to see the hotel had revamped its rooms and now offered modern bright ensuite bedrooms within its older traditional walls - the overall feel of the hotel is a little quirky with the joining together of several older buildings but for me this adds to the appeal. Breakfast... More

This hotel needs a complete overhaul. It is old dated and shabby. With its rich heritage it deserves better treatment and not to mention to match the price they are charging for their rooms. Rutland needs to up their hotel game. They can't rely on past glory to get by . The only good thing going for them is their... More
