not off to a great start, as all systems down at reception. So check-in delayed. However staff were polite and apologetic and offered free drinks whilst waiting. Room itself was fine, although definitely worth upgrading to executive as reviews of standard rooms look poor. Executive room was quite new with powerful shower. My room overlooked park to the rear, so nice and quiet Dining was mostly ok, although service deteriorated once it became busy. Just lack of staff as hotel seemed quite full. Beware if ordering Coke, as it comes in tiny 200ml bottles!

Hotel's Favourite
I read the reviews for this place and was put off by a few. Therefore, I booked another place close to Bakewell which was more expensive and absolutely dreadful. We couldn’t bear to stay another night. Therefore, we came back and booked the DoubleTree anyway due to limited choice as a result of glorious weather right in the middle of a national half term holiday! Although it was a little further away it was still perfectly placed for exploring the Peak District and it was reasonably priced with great customer service - especially the Italian lady on check in and the waitresses at breakfast. The room itself was exactly what you would expect - a few scuffs here and there through general wear and tear but overall extremely clean, comfortable and very pleasant. The one hitch we did encounter (AirCon stopped working) was very quickly resolved and we were assigned a new room even through the hotel was busy and it was all dealt with very well indeed. The breakfast was buffet style with full English cooked and served by chef. The coffee was machine but it was good enough (and I am a fussy old fuss pot when it comes to coffee so that’s saying something). The hotel had a lot more to offer. However, we didn’t have enough time to use the pool/spa/other facilities. I would definitely visit again. Not least because the Peak District is stunning and we also discovered an amazing Italian - Ferdinando’s close by which was just the icing on the cake.

Evening meal Friday service slow and totally disorganised. Some good hit done cold. Breakfast long line to wait for buffet breakfast and had to wait several hot items to be replenished. Coffee machine had no milk so lots if black coffees instead of latte! Lunch was a total car crash when the remaining 20 delegates got to the buffet there was literally no food! They mad z few ham sandwiches and egg sandwiches the egg ones were horrific. So I had 3 small cakes for my lunch! Others who had ordered special dietary requirements had nothing! For a quality hotel the food was appalling!

Tired, overpriced and noisy Booked one night, never again. Rooms are in desperate need of refurbishment. If you want sleep, dont stay here, its incredibly noisy. Hidden charges for leisure facilities. £5 for pool, etc. You must prebook. No mention of this on website. Do not use express checkout either. After looking at the menu and seeing the over priced food we ate else where. Got our receipt via email to find a £35 charge for food and drink. Cant email to rectify, they only give contact number for hotel.

Walls are really thin couldn’t sleep well due to cleaners and customers staying at the hotel, no place to drink coffee or food facilities if you miss breakfast. Expected more for £128.00, coffee would have been nice
