Perfect weekend away! Absolutely cannot recommend staying here enough! Clean and tidy, everything we needed for a fabulous weekend away. Directions, guidance, welcome was spot on. Fantastic hosts. The most relaxing break on this lovely boat. The Dorothy Pax guys putting on a wonderful weekend of entertainment! The nicest team you could ever meet! Thankyou for a memorable weekend! Can not recommend Houseboat Hotels enough xx
We stayed for night on the Laila Mai on our way to the Yorkshire Dales. We could park our car right outside the boat for free. It was very comfortable for two people and a lovely introduction to houseboat life. There was a lively bar about 10 metres away where we enjoyed some drinks and live music until late. There was also a great cafe (also 10 metres away) which served the best veggie breakfast i've eaten in a long time. The only let down was the shower didn't work very well, aside from that we had a lovely stay on the boat.
We stayed on the Millie Grace for 2 nights in June. Absolutely loved it!! We have always wanted to stay on a canal boat and this did not disappoint. The boat has everything a standard hotel room would, double bed, sofa, bunk beds, dining room table. It also has a small galley kitchen which was great. It was nice to be able to stay in and cook, then eat watching the water through the window. The kitchen was fully equipped with pots, pans and utensils. The location was great for a city break. About 15 minutes walk to shops and restaurants in the city centre. It was a little noisy from traffic etc. but this is normal for a city. There was a nice cafe on the marina which was very cheap. We were also able to park our car in the marina right next to the boat. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay and would stay here again…
Unique, stylish, quirky and superbly enjoyable. Perfect location with amazing setting and peaceful but central to all amenities. 10 minutes walk to City centre. 15 minutes to City Hall. The owners have created something very special and thought of everything.
We had an excellent weekend on the Millie Grace boat. It was more spacious than we were expecting with a good size sitting/dining room & a bathroom with a full size shower. The bedroom was comfortable with plenty of storage space though anyone taller than 6 ft would struggle to fit in the bed vertically. We had a 14 year old with us who thoroughly enjoyed sleeping in the cabin bunk bed in the corridor. We did not use the oven, as we ate out in the evening, but the kitchen area was fine for making breakfast and lunch. A small microwave would be a useful addition to the facilities. The television worked well but there is no internet. The boat looked particularly lovely at night, as it has lights across the top & we enjoyed sitting at the back looking out over the water in the balmy evening. There is a cafe & a bar conveniently close by and the city centre is about 10 minutes' walk away. We would definitely return if we went to Sheffield again.…
