Disclaimer: The Royal Hotel is exactly NOT where TripAdvisor says that it is. It is in the village of Dungworth, not east of the train station. No idea where TripAdvisor has got that from, but do not rely on the map here. For a folkie in folk capital (Sheffield), The Royal Hotel is almost the stuff of legends. Royal Traditions...

A nice public house that does a comfortable B & B. The village of Dungworth is nice, high up on the edge of Sheffield and the Peak District. Its a farming community. The Royal Hotel serves as the local pub, its a true pub in the traditional way and serves real ales and food earlier in the evening. I arrived...

We originally booked to stay for two nights last weekend, but had a problem with our car and ended up staying an extra night. Dave and Joanne were both extremely helpful and Joanne even contacted the local garage on our behalf. Our room provided everything that we wanted, and the breakfasts were very well prepared and tasty. The Royal itself...

We were staying nearby for two nights and chose to eat in the Royal on both evenings. There is a varied menu and the food is excellent. We would particularly recommend the pies - the shortcrust pastry was amazing. Very friendly welcome and a relaxing atmosphere. Food is served between 6-8 pm. Children were welcome, as were dogs. We would...

Good ensuite room in an annexe; the owners had thought of everything we might need from a wide array of body shop toiletries, tea and coffee and even an umbrella. They also contacted us before arrival to check whether we wanted a double or twin and were able to accommodate our request for an early checkin. When we told them...

Good food well cooked. Not a huge choice on the menu and there seems to be chips and peas with everything but the staff are friendly and the pub has a very relaxed, congenial atmosphere. Great value for money.

Thank Jill for your review. The reason for the small menu is to keep things simple. We also do mash potatoes but only peas. Glad you enjoyed your meal

What a great place !! We were there primarily for one of the "Royal Traditions" music events, which was a tremendous evening. Add to that a beautiful location, lovely pub and guest room, great food, excellent beer, a grand breakfast, and most importantly lovely people. Can't recommend highly enough. Thanks, Chris and Jude.

Took three rooms for family members here a couple of weekends ago. Clean, comfy, and very well appointed. Excellent breakfast the next morning. And a really warm and friendly welcome from our hosts. A great place, with lovely views at the back, and we'd use it again without hesitation. Top value, too.

“All rooms are quiet, comfortable, and warm. If you find a room that you prefer, just ask and Jo will ensure you are in your preferred room. * Fitness centre is the great outdoors - the Peak District national park starts on the opposite side of the road to the pub. ** The swimming pool is the Lido in Hathersage - a 15-20 minute drive for probably the most spectacular views you will ever see from a pool.”
