We stayed here for one night to celebrate my husband's birthday. It was fantastic, our room was lovely, great views, comfortable and quirky, wished we had booked it for two nights. The fire in the bar area was very welcoming after an afternoon walking on the peaks. Staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Bar food was...

Whilst walking the Bamford Edge, I noticed a pub on the ordnance survey map and made a detour for it. What a great little place. Peacocks wandering around the pub grounds, a roaring fireplace and refreshingly un-modernised. Quite an extensive menu for a small pub. Had soup starter then "pie of the day", which was excellent. Necked 3 pints of...

The walk down a dirty corridor was enough to make up our mind about staying. The room itself was clean but did have a musty smell to it. It is very old fashioned in terms of bed linen, etc.. and nothing matches. That said it was clean, warm and comfortable and the staff were friendly.

Stayed overnight in one of the 3 comfortable rooms; decent size, clean and dog friendly (the original reason we booked). The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful (the barman even gave our son a lift back to Sheffield when the cab company refused to come out) and the bars were full of walkers and locals. The location is a bit...

Try the Bankss Amber Bitter. Enjoyed one on the table outside. Amazing pub, amazing people and food and a location that is picture postcard perfect. Every time I'm in the UK I try to visit this pub. It truly is the pinnacle of a British pub.

We called in today after a long walk for a pint and a rest (thinking this would bd nice end to a lovely day) and enquired about food. We found the bar man rude and unhelpful. We found him to be facetious when asked a reasonable question, obnoxious, undermining to the other barman and impatient. Maybe he was tired? Maybe...

Cosy and traditional pub decor and atmosphere, delighfully in keeping with the historic building and remote moorland location. Good beer, with a selection of real ales regularly including Jennings favourite Cocker Hoop. The menu has a good selection of traditional favourites and bar meals. The food, I felt, was a tad dear for what I was presented with; the meat...

Stopped in while touring Derbyshire on the recommendation of friends. Very busy pub. The food is average quality, typical pub style. The beef was a bit tough and the Yorkshire very small. Good beer selection. Has an outside patio to enjoy.

We did not stay at the inn, but read about it in the guest book of the cottage we were staying in and were glad to see it lived up to the compliments. The traditional food was delicious and a good size, and it was nice to see delicious Vegetarian takes of a 'sunday dinner' (vegetables and roast potatoes with...
