Stayed here this weekend with some friends, hotel was great, friendly staff, clean rooms and the breakfast choice was amazing and all fresh. We all had a lovely weekend and would definitely stay again. Our thanks to the staff for a pleasant stay

On my visit I was very disappointed. From the outside (I used to live in Reading), and from the website this looked like a lovely hotel. In reality the room was small, dingy and smelt badly of the curry that was being sold in the bar.

After recently retiring from work me and a friend treated ourselves to a days shopping and fancied a bit of lunch. We had a lovely hot, cooked to order meal. My friend had a cheese and onion omelette, chips and peas and I had gammon, egg, chips and peas. We had our meals within 15mins and didn't pay the earth....

Stayed here 11-13 Feb. My wife had had a knee injury the day before. When we arrived, Nico at reception was attentive and concerned and upgraded us to a huge ground floor room avoiding any stairs. It was warm, well appointed and the bed extremely comfortable. There is no parking at or outside the hotel as it is right in...

Slept well in the good bed. Nice staff. I was lucky, and early check-in was accepted. Breakfast is continental, but with an extended selection. If you pay extra, you may have warm/English breakfast. Since it is a very old building, there is no elevator. ..and no soundproof walls/floor. Old, but fantastic location in Reading towncentre and nice atmosphere.

Great value for money in this historic quaint building...Not for snobs who prefer 5 or 4 stars in a tower block..This is for people who appreciate the finer things in life. I love the fact the floors are wonky and creaky. Customer service is spot on!! Breakfast is very expensive though for what it is. Hence I deducted one star....

I loved the history to this hotel and the charm of the building - it was a very memorable experience. The room was comfortable and the staff were very friendly. My only problem was my wifi worked for five minutes and then did not work at all for the rest of my stay - I tried phoning reception but my...

We stayed here for the night while picking family up. Pleasantly surprised as the our rooms were spotlessly clean and freshly painted which carried on throughout the hotel. Staff were really friendly. Breakfast was very impressive ,although one down point was that we were asked at the dining room door before being seated what hot food we would like. By...
