We visited for my daughters graduation. While she was at Reading we had stayed here several times and never had any issues. It was very different this time, Positives; - Good central location- easy to walk to The Oracle for shopping and restaurants. Quick to get to uni. - Parking- use just park and park at Saxon Court Car Park. Just around the corner and cost us £9.50 from 8.20pm in the evening until 11am the next day. If you run short on time you can just extend it on your phone. - Clean comfortable rooms and friendly helpful staff -Great cooked breakfast with lots of choice Problems: -Room 305 air conditioning not working. -No water in the fridge ( Premier plus room). Asked a member of staff and he said they had had a delivery problem, but went downstairs to the bar and got us some water (the staff here are great- they are just being key down by systems and management) - The lift wasn’t working from the ground floor- you had to go up to the first floor (ok for us but not people with mobility issues). By the next day still hadn’t been fixed - Coffee machine not working at breakfast . Staff apologised that it was “still not working” so obviously not a new issue. Instant coffee & hot water - Continental breakfast: no bread, mixed berry fruit salad was frozen, pastries not restocked - Check in was a nightmare. Can’t check in until 3pm- big queue at checkin desk. Despite me having my email confirmation with booking reference number on they tried to charge me a price much higher than on my booking. The checkin lady was doing her best and very helpful but the systems weren’t working properly and the key card system was having issues too. Eventually I paid the correct amount and we got our keys but it made it a real rush to get ready and get out in time for the graduation ceremony. Very frustrating when we had allowed plenty of time to then be under massive time pressure. - received receipt for one of our rooms with someone else’s name (same surname as ours), our booking reference, our address but their room number and last 4 digits of their credit card and the price they had paid (different to what I had paid on my credit card) Overall I would still stay here but the impression is of staff working very hard and struggling. Systems not working, things not being fixed making their jobs much harder. It was probably worse because it was very busy due to the graduations but this is an event that happens every year so it shouldn’t be something that they are unprepared for!…
Stayed in a family room, 2 adults and 2 children. Had a lovely time exploring the area but the great highlight was THE INCREDIBLE BREAKFAST! Everyone was delighted and the all you can eat and free children bonus is just amazing. Really friendly and helpful staff, we really had a lovely time.
Convenient location for the University and the town. Walking distance from The Great Hall for graduations and super close to the town centre and walking to the River Thames. Enjoyed our stay but the air conditioning wasn't working in one of our rooms, not a pleasant night's sleep.
Fantastic hotel. Great staff 6 star service. Can not fault the level of customer service. Liam was welcoming and the lady who signed us in for breakfast was amazing 26 June. She remembered my 2 year old sons name. And got him a crayon set. Room clean, lovely breakfast and I mean lovely. Good location for exploring Reading. 20 mins walk to railway station. One of the best Premier Inns I've stayed at. The staff made the visit.....
I have stayed at Premier Inns pre covid on numerous occasions and always thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Standards have fallen and I found this trip disappointing. Staffing is inadequate and rooms are not cleaned. In this case room supplies should be in place. The soap and toilet paper ran out quickly and I couldn't be bothered to wait around for someone to come to reception. So I bought these things myself. I had prebooked my meals, but were told that didn't work, so I had a long wait for dinner. On my last evening I walked out of the dining room because service was so slow. Lots on the menu wasn't available. I didn't complain at the time as no one was at reception. I have always been a loyal supporter of Premier inn, but this stay was high price and low service. I will find alternatives in the future…
The room was a good size, friendly staff and was quiet enough to sleep well. The room was dusty and I came up in a rash over my face and back. The shower glass was also broken. Was a good distance of everything though we was able to walk to where we wanted to go
Great location but noisy through the night which is something we havent experienced before when staying at this hotel. The staff were friendly and the room very clean with an excellent value breakfast
We’ve stayed here many times but I think this time it was particularly busy due to Harry Styles, Ascot and Rugby and Twickenham. The staff were getting a bit of hassle but handled it well and were polite and calm.
I stayed in a Premier Plus room which was more comfortable than a couple of five star hotels that I have previously stayed in. It was spotlessly clean and I enjoyed the use of the free toiletries, Nespresso machine and the water in the mini-fridge. All staff we met were very friendly, particularly Bella and Liam. I will definitely stay here again in the future.
The staff were excellent, professional, apologetic and lovely. When we arrived the hotel car park, it was full with 2 spaces being taken up by machinery and 2 cars not even parked in bays. There was also a fee of £12.50 (unexpected) my fault! The Wi-Fi never connected to the room. Bed was nice, room was nice.
