Another night staying at this excellent hotel as part of a coach party Coach parties are often treated as second class citizens at some hotels but not here.Since we were last here the hotel has changed its name from Madejskr to Voco but the service, the accommodation, and the food haven’t changed so we have no hesitation in giving it the excellent five star rating.
Stayed for a night as part of a group. Lovely hotel, very helpful staff, clean and great breakfast. However I think the bed & bedding has been purchased by a tall man judging by the height of the bed, I found the pillows very unfordable and had to resort to using a folded towel and why even with air conditioning on do you have a thick winter duvet in the middle of June? I found speaking to other ladies I was not the only one with these issues.
Stayed for a 1 night visit on Friday 4th June. Superb hotel ,great location just of M4. We had upgraded to a superior suite and was well worth the money. Great night sleep on a comfy bed . Special mention to Ernest on reception who was superb with his information not only on the proposed development of the hotel but local recommendations to.
Brilliant for comfort, service and outstanding food. Could not fault this stay and would certainly go back. Highly recommended on all levels. There was a connecting door available in our room but we didn't need it. Very comfortable beds and air conditioned rooms. It's about an hour into London or Oxford, not to mention many other locations, which is convenient for tourists. Loved it here.
We booked this for 3 nights and stayed in room 508 which over looked a small piece of woodlands, we was lucky to see plenty of wildlife from our window, it was super peaceful 99% of the time, was woken up early Sunday but a small child running around but nothing major, staff all so polite and helpful, room was clean and very comfortable, was very pleasantly surprised by complimentary canned drinks, crisps plus chocolate, water wasn’t nice though I’m sure it was tap water, breakfast was great quality and plenty to choose from, swimming was good pool warm and clean, however only negative was changing rooms that need a refurb big time, however we got talking to Gary who’s been with the company as maintenance for approx 3 months and he explained how covid really effected the hotel & what the plans in the future are but this will all take time, Gary is a credit to your company, the spa tub needs a sign saying no under 16s really as I was left in there with someone else’s child who I didn’t even know, over all we are very happy and will 100% be returning this year…
Stayed 4 nights in April. Hotel is adjacent to Madejski Stadium and is relatively easy to find…just follow signs to stadium! There is limited parking in front and behind hotel and plenty in the ‘overflow’ area. Check in was quick and easy, even though hotel was full on the night we arrived. Lobby area was clean and inviting. Our room was on the 4th floor…with no view…however it was adequate for our stay. Room was mostly clean (a few mould spots in bathroom and shower curtain was a little yellow - might be clean but didn’t look great) Bed was extremely comfortable. Coffee cups too small for the coffee and hot chocolate sachets provided. Breakfast each morning was fresh and plenty to choose from. The staff were friendly and attentive.
I stayed here recently with my mum and sister. It was a 60th birthday present for my mum. The hotel is okay. Pretty basic and not to a really high standard. All of the staff were so lovely and helpful, can’t fault them at all. The room was really nice and big and the beds were comfortable. It is not a fridge in the room but a cooler - however for one night this was fine. It was all clean enough apart from the grout in the bathroom staining the towels brown. We had room service dinner and it was ok but literally just pub food standard, for an expensive price. The spa area is pretty dire. It was really quite unclean and is very small. We didn’t want to stay long which was a good job as you could only book 45 mins at a time. We had a nice time but it wasn’t the really nice place that we had expected from pictures/ description/ other reviews unfortunately.…
Having stayed previously and had amazing service and experience was not at all taken with this stay. Pool area, pool and spa pool were questionable. Floor was not clean and pool and spa were cloudy and spa full of foam. Whole area tired and a little grim really. Spoke to a few visitors who voiced concerns with cleanliness of this area. Looked like it needed a really good deep clean. Rooms were also not 1st class I’m looking at a huge stain on the curtains in 260. If I can see the dark brown stain then others should be able to see it as well. Beds were comfy and bathrooms were ok in room. Breakfast was good and lots of choice. Service was good there as well. Took 2 calls to reception to get something fixed in the room. Appreciate your busy but just let us know it’s being taken care of. I suspect that had I not made the second call 90 mins later we would still be waiting.…
As an IHG member I am becoming increasingly frustrated with VOCO Reading and their lack of customer service. The bar in the hotel now opens later and later on matchdays, losing the hotel income. Whilst I write this there are 5 members of staff cleaning the restaurant, yet none are able to open the bar until 12 o clock! People using the bar on matchdays are also customers, please treat them with the same respect as you do your paying guests, otherwise we will go elsewhere
Grandmother, mother and three children (aged 5-9) have just spent a delightful weekend at this hotel. We had a family room (5 beds) and this comes with all the extras that one requires with children. Kettle, fridge, hot chocolate sachets as well as tea and coffee (we took our own milk). two towels per person and wonderfully comfortable beds. The staff were were excellent with the children. Catia on reception went out of her way to engage with the children. The restaurant staff were efficient and charming and really looked after us. We had dinner in the hotel and there were crayons and paper to keep the children busy. The food was delivered reasonably promptly and was delicious. The staff work very hard at being hosts. The swimming pool was well organised and the staff there too offered help (extra towels for long haired girls). Breakfast was wonderful with every choice to suit every palate and the buffet was replenished frequently. Even when we were rather late to breakfast we were offered all the choices. Having a swimming pool as well as the visit to Legoland meant that we all had a real holiday break. Highly recommended and thanks to the staff for being utterly charming. Everything was good quality from the bedding to the food and the service.…
