#15 of 35 hotels in Reading
What makes us a cut above the rest is the way we do things. We have designed the pentahotel Reading to be simple and pentastylish, to provide excellent value for money, create a pentafun and relaxed space with service that is welcoming and personal. All of this not only makes us the newest hotel in Reading, but also your neighbourhood lifestyle hotel. The perfect place to eat, drink and relax is the pentalounge, our „lifestyle lobby“ that multi-functions as a reception, bar, and cafe, perfect as a neighbourhood hub. And we have spacious air-conditioned rooms each feature a 38-inch flat-screen TV with Google Chromecast connection and free in-room movies. No matter what brings you to Reading, there is always time to have a look around. There are the medieval Abbey ruins, historic rivers and of course the majestic Thames Valley countryside to inspire you. If that doesn’t tickle your fancy you could also try out some of the local restaurants or pubs or the fabulous shopping malls.

WiFi useless despite several management attempts to fix. Room keys keep locking guests out. Happens so often reception don't even apologise. Lift broken all weekend. Breakfast run by one poor soul who had no chance to keep up. Shame, good location.

The location of the hotel was very good for where i was working for the couple of days i stayed at the hotel. just set outside the Reading central area but within walking distance of the Oracle and shopping areas. The entrance and lobby area really sells this hotel, moody lighting and music and into a modern looking bar and reception area. Unfortunately this doesn't continue in the same manner. The rooms are adequate, having stayed in a few different hotels the room isn't the worst by a long shot but nothing near the best for this price bracket. Felt a bit noisy as well... but that might have been me not working out how to close the windows properly! Food was only from a very limited menu from the bar, I ended up with deliveroo both nights..... The breakfast was actually ok, but nothing more then you`d get from a premier inn breakfast.. Overall, it was ok.. but i think i expected a little better. I'll be back at the Crowne Plaza next time I need to stay in Reading :)

Grubby rooms. Lacklustre service. Hard to find. Can't put your drinks on your room. Can't run a bar tab. Don't do VAT receipts. Won't add your food and drink spend to your overall bill. Promised they would provide overall bill for all expenditure - then didn't. Checkout promised an email receipt but didn't send one. When chased they then said they can only provide a photo of a paper receipt.

Hotel looks great as you arrive. Very cool and trendy but I had a few issues that I contacted their head office about and had no reply. My room was boiling hot with no window that opened and aircon that didn’t work. I purposely book hotels with aircon as being a woman of a certain age I can overheat. It was like a sauna. I went to reception and was told that the system was down and she couldn’t check what rooms had working aircon. She said the only place she knew she could move me to was a room on the main road as those windows opened. She said it wasn’t too noisy. I’ve never heard a racket like it. I reckon if I slept next to the M25 at rush hour it would be quieter. Had little to no sleep. Went to the bar to order food as the website boasts about the quality of their food. Burgers and chicken. That’s it. I can get that at that nearby KFC or McD for a fraction of the price. I booked and paid for breakfast however nobody was checking who’s booked and paid so I could have not paid for it and still got it. Breakfast was the highlight, all freshly cooked and plenty of it.

It was just amazing! 😍✨ The location, amenities, rooms, breakfast, staff - all were top-notch. The hotel has a huge lounge area/bar, a pool table, and even a cool library. Its location is just perfect, right as Reading’s high street begins. Besides that, the breakfast is just absolutely PERFECT. There’s anything you can wish for – from pastries to seeds and nuts, to a full English breakfast, cereals, fruits. The quality and freshness are nothing compared to what we actually found in other hotels. The options are way too vast and for all vegetarians/vegans out there, you won’t be disappointed! We’ll be back guys, surely! ❤️❤️
