This hotel is pleasantly located on the bank of the River Thames. It has two carparks one is immediately in front of the hotel and the other is closer to the river. It is necessary to register your car at reception on arrival. It is about a 25 minute walk from the city centre. There is a local bus or the taxi fare is about £6. There are good leisure facilities including a swimming pool. We enjoyed a drink on the terrace area that overlooks the river. The reception and bar staff were very good but the leisure club staff and breakfast staff seemed a bit grumpy.
We thought as a family the customer service was outstanding! And nothing was to much trouble .upon arriving at the hotel ,for a two night break . The suite of rooms that had been booked was clean and well presented . However one of the beds was awfully uncomfortable and not fit for purpose! I had paid over £600 pounds for the two nights and didn’t find the bed to be up to even a low standard . However when I addressed this at reception the young girl Stefi was absolutely amazing and arranged for the bed to have an extra mattress put on top of the current one . The next day stefi made a point of taking the time to ask me how my nights sleep was ! I replied thank you for trying to address the problem of the awful bed however still not fit for purpose and I had a terrible nights sleep . She apologised and made arrangements for myself to sleep in and additional room . Free of charge ! The best nights sleep I could of had being away from home . Absolutely fantastic customer service nothing was to much trouble and I feel stefi went above and beyond. And hope she gets the credit she so deserves as she is a credit to the crown plaza . Having stayed in the crown plaza many times and never in-counted this problem before . I even questioned upon the first night of I would return to this hotel having paid a great sum of money for such an awful bed . But due to the outstanding customer service I would recommend and return . Thank you stefi again…
Absolutely dreadful. For a “4 star” pretty expensive hotel our stay was terrible. The aircon, despite being on and making plenty of noise, emitted nothing. So hot in the room it became unbearable. Breakfast buffet, whilst looked appetising, was stone cold.
My stay at the Crowne Plaza was fantastic. From check-in to check-out, the staff could not have done more to help us enjoy our stay. The lady working on reception, who I think was training, checked us in, went to get us wine glasses to use in the room and remembered us later in the night when we required assistance accessing the room was excellent. Unfortunately, I can’t remember her name. Room was clean, well furnished and equipped with all the essentials you would need for a single night. Additional toiletries (beyond the basics) were available upon request from reception. The housekeeping staff began their service at 8:30-9am which may have been disruptive if you were still sleeping. We used the pool and spa facilities as well as the gym during our one night stay. Overall these facilities were good, especially considering this hotel is far cheaper than many others. The pool/gym weren’t too busy and although there were a few children around this wasn’t an issue at all. We didn’t try the restaurant as we decided to head into town (just 10 mins walk to the city centre) and the hotel menu looked relatively limited (including classic pub dishes) and fairly expensive (~£15-25 per main). The breakfast was, in the main, great. They had an extensive selection of hot (bacon, eggs, sausages, black pudding etc) and cold foods (continental style breakfast, cereals), as well as self-service hot drinks which were of reasonable quality. My only issue was that the hot items were at best ‘warm’ and might’ve been there a while as the restaurant was quite quiet (even though we were warned at check in it would be very busy).…
We were in the Club lounge and Sunil worked his socks off. He was professional and friendly. He never stopped for a second and tended to everybody's needs. He also remembered each and every person's drink preference. Sunil needs a promotion!
Stayed here for one night and regretted it. No where near the worst hotel I have stayed in but definitely the worst for the rate charged. Firstly to be asked for £15 parking when the hotel website states "you can park your car for free". After refusing to pay I was told they would waive the charge but referred to another part of the website where it states "200 free spaces" actually means "200 available spaces". When we got into our room it smelt damp and stale and looked like it needed a good makeover. The helpful staff managed to find us an alternative room which thankfully didn't smell but was still in need of at least a lick of paint or repapering. The bed was very comfy and towels were good which was a huge bonus. The hotel in general looked very tired. Outside windows and doors covered in dirt and cobwebs. Paintwork was dirty and peeling. Didn't feel like a 4 star hotel at all, very disappointed.…
Staff were very friendly and attentive. They made the whole experience even better! The amenities were also great, I had the most amazing massage at the spa which felt like heaven. Would definitely recommend
We have just had a perfect stay in a suite here. The club lounge was very good and extremely generous. The balcony overlooking the Thames made all the difference, what a fantastic view! The staff here are very friendly and attentive, thank you for ensuring we had a wonderful time! My only gripe is that the club lounge should be at the back of the hotel overlooking the Thames, but you can't have everything. 😀
Booked a king-size room with breakfast and spa access for me and my wife's wedding in May 2022. We arrived in the evening to go to our room to find someone in it! We were told that they were fully booked, then put into a twin bed room once they had 'found' a room. We did not have complementary access to the spa or breakfast in the morning. Have since sent an email to complain about 4 weeks ago and had a pitiful response 2 weeks afterwards. We replied at that point and still waiting for a response. Truly a terrible experience and would not recommend a stay here for anybody due to the lack of competency and care given by the staff, particularly for our wedding day.
Good location checkin hectic at 5pm. Not pleasant at checkin. Wanted to charge us 15 pound for psrking that was free in our reservation. Room ok but the king size bed is not a king size regardless of what they say. Aircon is useless, didnt get to sleep until 4am as the room was ridiculously hot. Asked for extension on checkout told "fully booked" even though we can book a room that night. All in all wont stay here again, was looking for a long term stay for next visit. It wont be here
