The room was nice, very warm. Had good amenities. Both the room service and the restaurant menus were very limited and food wasn't all that. Cooked breakfast was incredibly dry had been under hot lights for ages clearly, defined not worth the money. Recommendation: stay eat eat elsewhere

Only stayed for one night but we were very impressed by this hotel and the welcome we received. Right in the centre of charming Woodstock this is an old period coaching inn that oozes character. We were kindly upgraded to a duplex apartment in the courtyard which was way beyond our expectations. We didn't eat dinner at the hotel but...

This is a lovely village and the hotel right in the middle is attractive in an olde worlde way. We had a king room which faced the courtyard behind the hotel and was roomy and comfortable. The bed was great and we enjoyed our stay. The food was good but nothing remarkable and the service was fairly standard, also good....

The Macdonald Bear Hotel was book for us by our travel agent because we wanted to experience an old style English country inn in the Cotswolds. The inn is well over 200+years old. All the staff was very accommodating and catered to all of our needs. A small note, since the Inn is a converted glove making factory ( refurbished...

The staff here are great however the bar area has no character and 20 GBP for a glass of house white wine is somewhat steep. The dinner menu only has 4 choices per course, all of which were not very inspirational, we ended up eating from the bar menu the second night. The mould growth on the bathroom window frames...

We booked a classic double room, which was ok but nothing special, for a three night stay. Bathroom and bedroom were both very clean and well maintained. The TV was a good size flat screen with all the free view channels, but it was in a completely unsuitable position, as there was nowhere to sit facing it, so we had...

The Bear is in the centre of pretty Woodstock very close to Blenheim Palace. The hotel was a coaching inn and now has 54 rooms and is operated by MacDonald Hotels. We had a Feature room which was lovely, with a large bed on a mezzanine and a lounge area and bathroom on the ground floor. Recently updated, it was...

We stayed here for a romantic weekend, and the hotel did not disappoint. There was a private staircase leading to our suite, which was up in the attics. The suite was called Sir Winston Churchill, and it had a spacious sitting room with views over the main street and the Town Hall. There were a few low beams here and...

We stayed here after booking through Secret Escapes on a Saturday night to include a 3 course dinner in the restaurant as well as breakfast. The village itself is so picturesque, and so typically Cotswolds, and when they say 5 min walk to Blenheim Palace they really mean it... which is gorgeous, vast and extremely impressive! The hotel itself is...
