I agree with my reviewing colleagues: stay away. Bed was comfortable and the room big, roomy and quite well appointed but with no view whatsoever (unless you count scaffolding). The bathroom also roomy and well appointed with loads of little bottles of lotions, shampoos and soaps. However, I was on a two-night business trip and on my second night any...

This is an old and well-known hotel that trades on having character, being in the middle of Oxford and its Morse connections. In reality, it's fairly horrible. The air conditioning didn't work in the room. Room service was average and expensive. Wifi didn't work which caused everyone on our business trip a lot of hassle. The gym and spa are...

My sister and I arrived - we had booked to stay there as it was her 21st birthday, so we thought we would treat ourselves. All was going well until we had our facial which we had pre-booked. It was all very nice until the beauticians kept dropping lots of lotion bottles and making lots of noise behind us, I...

This is a historic building with an impressive central staircase, wonderfully uneven floors and door frames that are far from square! It all adds to the character. Rooms are very comfortable, spacious and well presented with good facilities plus some extras such as complimentary bath robes and slippers, mini bar (watch the prices!) and real glasses for your water (not...

These folks know how to run a hotel. From check-in to check out, everything was perfect. The rooms are in excellent: perfectly clean and well maintained. The bell man and concierge are prompt, efficient and friendly. Everything they advertise, they live up to. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

I've been staying at this hotel for more than 40 years and it has a special place in my heart. I have never had a bad stay ever....the guest is important to the a staff and on the very few occasions that there has been a problem it has been sorted immediately. Of course, he building itself is magical and...

Just returning home from an expensive stay at this over-priced hotel. Booked a twin room on a well known website for over three hundred pounds which didn't include breakfast so cancelled it and booked directly with the hotel for same price but included breakfast. No bath, just a shower which was COLD. Staff were lovely and knocked my drink off...

Thank you for posting a review and I am sorry you were disappointed with the certain aspects of your stay. We do have some classic grade accommodation which boast large showers instead of bathtubs. We do have plenty of rooms with both options of a shower over bath and it is always best to let the reception team know or...

Visited Oxford for a few days, obviously has to visit the famous Morse Bar before our Inspector Morse tour. I was very disappointed to discover the amount of dust in the bar area! Glad I wasn't paying to stay at the hotel!

Thank you for posting a review and I was most concerned that the Morse Bar was less than immaculate when you came for refreshments. I will be having this immediately addressed. We have a very structured cleaning program for all areas of the hotel. I do hope we can welcome you back to the hotel in the future. kind regards,...

Iconic hotel in a historic building, good service. The room I had was a bit quaint but rather spacious. Breakfast room and restaurant very stylish. Great drinks and cocktails in the famous Morse Bar, commemorating the detective from the popular TV crime series.

Arrived this afternoon. Two couples booked together but arrived separately. We were both given the same room! Had afternoon tea. Not cheap. The waiter spilt the milk and just left the puddle on the table for them to put the food on - which they would have done if we hadn't stopped them. Given a minute room, if I had...
