We stayed at the Old Parsonage for Christmas 2014, arriving on Christmas Eve and leaving on Boxing Day. Our reasons for choosing the hotel were twofold: we intended to eat Christmas dinner there, so it was convenient to stay there too, and we also had our dog with us (I think I'm right in saying that this is the only...

I live in Oxford and this is the place where I go when I want to give myself a treat. It is so old England, the chimney place, the sofas, the tables, the candles on, everything reminds me of a time where people used to dine with style. The food is excellent too.

I have been visiting the OPH more or less since the day it opened and have fond memories of many happy celebrations there. Apart from one occasion last year which the OPH management promptly put right with a lovely lunch on the house, I and my guests have always enjoyed ourselves in its warm, comfortable and colourful ambience. We have...

Thank you for your (admittedly subjective) comments. We are always genuinely interested in our returning visitors’ opinion of the refurbishment and appreciate that we cannot please all of the people, all of the time. Presumably, the title of your review is a hypothetical enquiry, but I can report that, in league with the majority of our diners and hotel residents,...

The hotel is neat, clean, room is newly furnished with Clark space bathroom. The staff were friendly. Wonderful location and service. Nice hotel for business or leisure. The room service is excellent and bring the order within 15 minutes. There is library at the first floor, filled with books for free reading as well as a nice place to relax....

I stayed here recently for three nights. Had a deluxe double room. Positives: Staff very friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. G Food was good but a little pricey. Room was good with all necessary facilities. Location is excellent. Negatives: Bar and restaurant area is one common area - so not always easy to have a drink...

Thank you for your positive comments and constructive feedback; much appreciated. Our bar and restaurant is often full, particularly at weekends. Whilst this creates a vibrant buzz downstairs, it can preclude the opportunity for guests to enjoy a quiet aperitif or after dinner coffee. We created our first floor residents’ library in order to remedy this. An oasis of calm,...

The Old Parsonage is a hotel that we go back to time and again in Oxford. It has an excellent atmosphere, good food and is warm and welcoming. It is part of a group of hotels/eateries that includes The Old Bank Hotel and Quod Brasserie. Originally 17th century, it maintains a lot of the appearance of that period although much...

This is a truly special place to stay. The staff go out of their way to be helpful. This place represents the real traditional English hotel experience but with a modern twist. The restaurant is beautiful and the food - especially the breakfast - is superb. It is not cheap so be prepared to pay a lot for your stay...

This hotel works very hard to make its visitors happy. From inquiring the week before if we needed a parking place (at a premium in Oxford) to a substantial supply of umbrellas (for rainy days) and loaner bikes (for sunny days), there's not a lot one could do to improve. Some have mentioned the lack of elevators, but the staff...

We stayed in a junior suite here for a few nights, very nice room but for the price we expected more attention to detail. Not everyone drinks just coffee and the coffee maker was useless for making a cup of tea. Would have been more impressed if a decent kettle had been provided rather than the coffee maker and milk...

Food 4* Service 5* Dining area 5* VFM 4* We went as a family for afternoon tea. The place is an easy walk from the city centre. The atmosphere inside is lovely, old fashioned with silver service and attentive team members. It was a very nice 'experience' although at £40+ for 5 people having tea and scones it really should...
