The County is a gem of a pub, just away from the historic centre of Hexham – recently voted Britains favourite market town! We are the perfect place for a post-work cocktail, a business brunch or a private party with friends. With food served all day, fresh barista coffee and free wifi, we’re also a popular venue whatever the occasion. Once you’ve tried our delicious local food, ales and gins or our relaxed yet friendly hospitality, you won’t want to leave. Thanks to our 7 en-suite rooms, you won’t have to. Hexham is an ideal place to explore the local area, with features such as Hadrians Wall and Sycamore Gap popular throughout the year. The town itself is award winning, with lively markets and the magnificent abbey to wander round. The County is all about easy-going contentment – a tasteful, relaxed venue that hasn’t forgotten it is a pub at heart. Business meetings, local lunches and evening celebrations are all part of the mix that make the County something special.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review. I'm sorry your visit wasn't as enjoyable as either of us might like it to be. Sometimes waiting to be served is uncomfortable, but we do try to serve people as quickly as possible & in turn. Most customers understand this. Your short wait was because we were serving other customers. To be rude to the person who then came to serve you probably wasn't the best way to ensure a pleasing experience. We always try our best. I'm sorry that on this occasion it was good enough.

Great hotel -lovely, big room, powerful hot shower, excellent breakfast and friendly staff. We didn't eat an evening meal at the hotel but stayed for a drink before going out and the food looked lovely. Atmosphere in the pub downstairs was relaxing. Would recommend and stay

The stairs are shallow and negotiable for us in our mid seventies. Not sure there is a lift of any description or stair lift but we managed.
