Unfortunately could only stay one night - but if I have to come to York again, this is definitely the place. Ideally situated on edge of old town, but handy for buses outside the wall. But the real treat is the hotel and staff itself. Friendly +++. Helpful. Absolutely first class breakfast. Great plus is the library (yes! with books...

When we stayed, the St Denys was in the process of changing its name to the Parisi hotel. We found the staff to be superb; friendly, efficient, helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. It made such a difference. The library was a place to linger - a cosy fire, a variety of comfy chairs arranged in groups, a wide...

The staff here are very welcoming, giving us tea and biscuits after we came back from a walk around the city walls. Be aware that at the moment the hanging sign for the hotel still has the old name of "Hotel Parisi" on it so you may drive past the car park, then have to reverse back to it like...

Absolutely lovely stay here for two nights in February. Short walk from some lovely characterful bars and restaurants. Very friendly staff, and very thoughtful touches (umbrellas in entrance, free bottled water and fresh milk for coffees in room). Delicious breakfast. I wish I'd had time to sit in the very welcoming and attractive lounge/study!

What really sets this hotel apart from any other I've stayed in is the level of service. The staff are incredibly friendly and always willing to go the extra mile. There are lots of little touches like chocolates, reading glasses, and folding umbrellas on reception for the guests use, on the upstairs landing a communal fridge with small bottles of...

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at the St Denys in May 2016. The staff were super hosts, the accommodation updated and clean/spiffy, with a side garden for tea or other refreshments. Breakfasts were great as was the service. Overall experience at this modest & understated hotel, was simply first rate. - Dale (Vancouver)

Dear Dale, thank you so much for your kind words. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay last year. We can't believe nearly a year has passed since then! We seem to finally be on the verge of spring here at the moment, the plants are waking up again and we have had one or two lovely sunny and mild...

I booked to stay at the St Denys Hotel after reading the excellent TripAdvisor reviews. I emailed the hotel a month or so ago asking for a quiet room. Very quickly I had a lovely personal email reply stating the hotel is situated on a pretty quiet street (it is) but that we'd be given a rear room as these...

We stayed here for 3 nights so that we could explore York. This hotel is a perfect place to do just that, as it is so central that everywhere you really want to go is pretty readily accessible. We decided on this hotel for a 2 night stay when attending a friends wedding, we could have stayed at the wedding location - a much larger and allegedly plusher establishment - but plumped for the St Denys on the basis of all the tripadvisor reviews...we were not disappointed..
