This charming Inn is located over the bridge and is perfectly placed for shops bars cafes and restaurants and not far from the steps upto the abbey. Popped in this nice little pub for an "arrival pint" during a long weekend in Whitby. Although it is small we found it very welcoming, so much so we returned later on during the weekend for another visit. A friendly traditional pub that serves a nice pint of beer.

We visited this pub again a few days ago and again received a warm and friendly welcome... The Black Horse is near the market square in Whitby and is spilt into two rooms... the small front bar area and the long side room... The decor is wooden and plenty of seats and tables can be found... the pub dates from...

We really enjoyed this weekend at the Black Horse, it's a lovely pub with friendly staff and a great bar; great gin selection! The room was warm and comfortable and it's great venue for people watching up and down Church Street. It's central and cosy. Love it.

Many thanks for your review. Glad you enjoyed your stay. We do have some bath sheets, but there was a high turn over of one night bookings, so I'm sorry you were unlucky enough to get a slightly smaller towel. See you again. Sue and the team

Our annual visit to the Black Horse. Great welcome from the bar-staff. Excellent choice of beers, a mix of local craft-brewery ales, special ales (Hoegarten served with a choice of lime or lemon!). Inventive snacks using many local ingredients. And the locals talk to you! Even met the owner and her parents at the bar. What a pub!!!
